But my point is everyone knew for a fact that is was random. It was in the very first post in the game, and as Oiling points out, Mazrim confirmed it very early on as well.
If there was no upfront disclosure about the random character alignment, then I think it would have been a solid theory. But the big assumption in your theory is only the mafia knew alignments did not match their characters, when that is known to not be the case.

Whether or not he is a #######, the post was long, and I cannot be the only one who didnt read it fully, or skim.
Yes, eventually it was clarified for everyone, however I am sure that there were people like me who were unsure of whether or not to reveal.

Are we speaking of the comment by MOT #2 about the portal and dead speaking?
If so, when I read what I copy and pasted directly from that thread, it seems like a suggestion that anyone that has been killed or died in the game may use the portal to communicate to the living and that we should look further into that possibility.
It seems posed very much like their comment about the people to investigate. Here is a theory and go investigate them.

My point is that the mafia could have talked about this openly in the thread early on, then reassured each other that it was safe to reveal. They then jumped in to get a solid non-mafia list of people to vote for.

Yeah, that's what I thought.
It seems set up for them to post in the next twilight thread as someone 'dead.'
I have a good feeling if Starseed didn't get targeted tonight for the lynch that a fake Dregar would have joined us in the twilight thread.

Mazrim posted there was no risk in revealing. Why wouldn't everyone reveal? Only 1 person didn't right away. Grasping at straws here Starseed...

I do not know what they MOT2 was getting at, but it seems to me like they are saying it may be a way for the dead to give us info. That info being who killed them.

Interesting slip up starseed.
They? Why would you refer to as an individual as "they" at first?

Why are you referring to 1 person, at least according to you, as they?

That would probably have shot the MOT credibility. If I were mafia, I would have considered that way too risky. Why potentially destabilize what the MOT thread was building? It would be a terrible mafia move.

I keep going between gender neutral to MOT2. I am not going to reveal anything about MOT2.

I was going to reveal about the vote thing, and MOT2 was going to reveal the dead investigation thing. We didnt specifically state what we were going to say.

This was the post. The entirety of the post. This is what Mazrim said before the collective town revealed characters. There was no risk, we were told. Your argument doesn't hold water.

Here's my big worry about this reveal. Since it's happened, the conversation has been with only a handful of people. Where is everyone else? Why is no one else jumping into this conversation? It says there are 12 members viewing right now, but only 4 are listed, so 8 people are in this thread as invisible, which I think means 8 other people are watching but not participating.
What if Starseed is telling the truth and just being clumsy about it? The mafia would love this - the thread is getting full of talk and they don't even have to do anything about it.
I'd like to hear some more people chime in on the situation and provide some more discussion rather than a few people just talking back and forth with Starseed. Personally, I think it smells fishy and I'm not sure I believe him. I'll sleep on it and see how I feel in the morning, but I still see it as a scummy diversion.

For some reason I thought that reassurance message was in between the reveals.
