Not just hockey sense. Even if you think that. You should never say something like that in my opinion. Ton more mileage and less polorizing would be something like, "Edmonton was my favorite team growing up, but to be drafted into the NHL in the first round would be a dream come true."

Intriguing. And you think that despite Lowe's comments earlier this season about Ekblad being a nice bookend with Nurse? I'm sure you've heard something. It's funny cause Ekblad appears to be a perfect fit for them although they do need size at centre and the wing as well.
Nothing is funnier than watching the Oilers take the wrong prospects.

I am convinced the Oilers didn't pick the wrong players (except maybe Yakupov). I really believe that they just developed their players poorly and it wouldn't matter who they picked.

Except MAYBE Yakupov? Yakupov was pretty clearly the wrong pick. That was the year to deal down, or take Murray, Rielly or Galchenyuk at #1. Yakupov was redundant with Eberle/Hall. Throw in the Russian factor and it makes it a huge mistake IMO.
Both Hall and RNH are defendable. Yakupov was a massive mistake.

Not sure what makes you think that? Their GM came out and said he was what they wanted to play with Nurse in the future. He is not wrong those 2 would be a great first pairing in 5 years.
I think it's all but done that Ekblad will be an oiler. I don't think Buffalo wants another d-man and could draft a center leaving ekblad at #2. oilers would probably offer more if that's what it takes to get to #1 if they have to. Also they will have the 2nd best percentage to win the draft.

Things change. If you asked them who they wanted to take at this time of year back in 2012 it would have been between Murray or Reinhart.
Also, I'm pretty sure the Oilers will be 4th last by the end of the season. Don't see how Florida and Islanders will be able to finish ahead of them.

Hopefully the Oilers will be swayed into picking him and then he turns into a bust.
Meanwhile we get Ekblad, Bennett, or Reinhart, and they become a star for us.

Didn't oiler scouts want Murray all the way till draft only to have the owner step in and say pick will be yak?
You could be right about oilers drafting 4th. They have been getting points for the last 10-12 games.

I think goaltending has made them a .500 team which should get them to the 70-point mark. Can't see Islanders or Panthers getting to 70.

That's one of the concerns with Ekblad though, will he be as effective against NHL sized players?
