They're making the ST equivalent of the League of Anarchy.
E3 was better, mostly because Michael Dorn makes everything better.

This is an objectively false statement.
But he was the highlight of Episode 3.
Not a high bar, but a bar nonetheless.

Come to think of it, Worf not getting dummied in a fight is probably a bigger character change than any of the others

Worf is totally out of character. Worf was a dummy. He got dummied all the time, usually multiple times per episode. And now he's some super smart enlightened Klingon? Come on.

I've always chuckled at how they write Worf through all time. In next Generation it felt like the writers generally hated either Dorn or the Character.
He pretty much got his but whipped at key moments. Or Picard would yell at him. Or they'd put him as the main character in the worst episodes of all time. (See Worf wearing a cowboy hat and having a gun fight with Data har har).
Then he gets to Deep Space 9 and he gets this redemptive arc that was pretty good. And really we got what was a really nice ending to the character.
But in the movies, he complained about romulan ale, spent 10 minutes in insurrection talking about his pimples and generally was a back ground character.
So we come into this one, and he starts strong. then becomes a zen buddhist, and episode 3 is this long setup to a joke about tea.
All we're missing is some alien backhanding his across the room with a look of complete contempt.

Maybe Picard is the changling, he seems to want to go super aggressive. The real Picard is on a holodeck drinking hot earl gray tea thinking he's back at the vinyard.

Also, the description for Discovery season 5 sounds positronicly awful.
Quote:
The Paramount+ series is ending after season 5, which according to its official summary, "will find Captain Burnham (Martin-Green) and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncovering a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries."

I'll watch it, but damn, this already sounds like a bad setup.

Sounds like the plot to Star Trek V.

I think there have been hints all along that Riker isn't Riker or is being influenced. He dissuaded any reaching out to Troi, and he is the one that had them take the Titan (when the instruction was to avoid Starfleet), which just happens to have a changeling saboteur.

It could also be one of those slug creatures that tried to take over Starfleet that time...

No neck spike, so no.
All signs are changeling or Thomas Riker.

Prepare to have your expectations subverted!
Besides, if they're smart parasites, which we're supposed to believe that they are, maybe they found a way to hide or suppress their tell-tale nubbins?
And you are completely discounting the Androids.
What if they saw their Picard experiment as a failure and decided to robotify Riker and take over Starfleet?
Presumably at the direction of Lore. Aw yeah...

May I use this as my signature?
Also I'm a little less fussed about what folks are calling a mischaracterization, because time changes us all. But then again, I love TLJ Luke and that's an unpopular opinion round these parts.

Would they really want to bring back Tom? I mean they pretty much finished his story with him going to a Cardassian prison for life in DS9 and he went as a noble hero. I doubt that the Cardassians would have kept humans alive during the Dominion War.
They could generously steal from other Trek and have Riker come from a third mirror universe where everyone in Star Fleet is a coward.

The portal weapon on the ship was a little silly -- I thought it was actually pretty cool and really visually interesting when it was used in the first episode to destroy that big building, but the application of it in space is kinda dumb. You can just go around things in space.

I loved the Dominion back in the day (man, I'm old) and it is cool to see the Changelings, but the lack of even a hint of the trademark facial characteristics we came to know in DS9 kinda dampened the fanwank appeal. Even the shape shifting effects when it died were all wrong.
