He probably figured a trade was the only way to get out of Tocchet's doghouse, and would accept a trade to any other team to achieve that.

Sharangovich isn't Russian if that's why you're wondering.

Simple answer is his market value has tanked one year before becoming a UFA. What better place to rebuild value than a team willing to throw him on the #1 PP and feed him.
He knows the only way he is valuable is if he puts up points

Depends on which team. Kuz has a 12 team no trade list. Calgary was on it apparently, so he had to approve of the move.
If Conroy facilitates a deal to a team not on it, he could be dealt without approval.

They have the same agent, as well as Vladar, Pospisil, and Zadorov (the agent seems to specialize in Eastern Europeans... and Evander Kane, oddly).

Crazy trade proposal in the Hockey Writers,
To CAR
Sharangovich
TO CGY
Necas
Morrow
2024 2nd (they said it make need to be a 1st)
Also said it may take a different defensive prospect. Is it me or does that seem like a ridiculous overpay by the Canes. I would drive Yegor to the Airport.

I may be mistaken but isn't Necas often bashed by Canes fans due to his horrible defensive play?

Lol if you could get Necas for Sharangovich, let alone Necas+, you'd be nuts not to take it. I think Carolina would fire Waddell and Tulsky on the spot.

I remember lots of fans telling us Sharky was a great penalty killer and was very solid defensively.
Sharangovich can't be knocked for effort, which I believe the problem is for Necas ( haven't watched him enough to properly say this for myself but have seen posters question his drive before.)

Necas is the type that looks like he’s coasting, even when he’s playing hard and positionally sound.

I’ve read a few rumors that they might use Bunting as a trade chip before the deadline.

Yeah. That’s a bonkers trade proposal. I don’t think even the most homer fan here would have suggested it.

We would definitely have to add to Sharangovich on our end. That being said there have been rumours before that Necas does not want to be in Carolina. Maybe contract talks are going nowhere with him as he is a pending RFA.

If Nichuskin is out long term, do you think the Avs would target Coleman?
Coleman + Tanev (50% Retained) for Byram + 2024 1st who says no?
Byram is super mobile and is buried on their back end for the foreseeable future.
