How does that math work out?
Weekends alone in the last 8 years is ~840 days.
So the 680 days off is the equivalent of working 5.4 days/week without taking any vacation time.
What are they upset about? Do they think he's setting bad example by working Saturday mornings and not using all his vacation days?

I don't know if there is much to be gained by spending a lot of time in a place filled with visible displays of hate toward you and a bunch of loonies calling for your murder.
Not to mention a pretty clear place your party is unlikely to gain ground. What does he have to gain?
Of all the things that drive me nuts about him, this is not one.

So, hate to derail another discussion on Trudeau, but the tax increase is indeed 7.8%. Passed by a 9-6 vote last night. One more reason to vote against Penner in Ward 11 next time around.

Kinda surprised they didn't ask for a 20 or 25% service tip on top of the increase.
https://calgaryherald.com/news/local...et-adjustments
Calgary city council approves 7.8% tax hike in 2024
On day three of 2024 budget adjustment deliberations, council voted against over a dozen motions from certain councillors that sought to reduce the tax increase.
Motions to cut spending repeatedly voted down
In the afternoon, additional budget amendments from Chabot and Sharp to cut costs were defeated one after another.

As someone who actually watches Council, Penner is a fantastic Councillor.

I don’t watch council, so what has she done that makes her fantastic?

Well for starters, yesterday she voted in favour of key investments in our city, including affordable housing, safety and transit.

Worth noting that they did actually push over $260M in projects to the next capital budget cycle (interchange projects on McLeod at 194th and 210th). Those two interchanges alone represented over 25% of the original 30 investment recommendations.
So well done on that. Let Okotoks pay for those, I say!

Yeah, like I say, it’s another reason to vote against her. Her record shows no initiatives of substance that I can recall, although she did champion voting for a city’s official bird so perhaps that’s subjective.

As someone who lived in her ward (hell, I lived around the block from her), Penner sucks. Penner was an awful 'you know what' when my ex-wife met her in person (straight from her mouth), and anyone who had worked with her on previous committees had just wonderful *cough* things to say about her.
I'm glad she's not my ward councilor, but that's a small consolation since my ward councilor is now Walcott.

So what you're saying is don't vote for anyone named a variation of Courtney.

She very much gives off strong 'take me to your manager' vibes.

I for one would really love to see a reformed Farkas re-emerge in politics and act as a true conservative. Conservatism has drifted so far from their own ideals, that we are going to need to reform some of these people to have a legitimate conservative movement again, which is something that Canada really could use.
But it's kind of a paradox, because I sure wouldn't support him prior to seeing him exercise some of the practices he is now talking about, but he needs to be voted back into power to have the opportunity to exercise those practices. That's the real risk of jumping off the deep end, you've got to swim all long way to stand up again.

Boo on deferring those projects. And I don't even live anywhere near the area.
