My response was to those that just felt he needed a change of scenery. That makes little sense. That and I hate moving players that are struggling but showing they may pop.
Will he? I don’t know. My guy says he improves to a second line player. Better that in a Calgary uniform.

I've said 6-7 call it 8 if you want, it doesn't change the point. You don't move on or trade a player because you don't like that he hasn't been as good as you hoped when he's clearly in your top nine or better.
And yeah I think Bennett is a more important piece going forward than Frolik, not taking away anything from what Frolik has done since signing.

Sam Bennett is pretty awesome, but going to get awesomer. Will probably be totally awesome in the playoffs and still sign for an awesome value contract next summer. All around awesomeness.

Taking a while to get to 5000

From Pierre LeBrun's Athletic article this morning:
Other notes from around the league:
My understanding is that Sam Bennett’s camp spoke with Flames GM Brad Treliving a few days ago. This issue really dates back to last season when Bennett’s role and ice time led to frustration. Other teams inquired but Treliving refused to get into that. And that remains the same today. Treliving has zero intention of trading Bennett. There may come a time if things don’t improve that the Bennett camp puts more heat on this situation but as far as I can tell, the Flames GM strongly believes the answer lies in Bennett finding his way in Calgary and not anywhere else.

If that's really the case, Bennett better show he's more than a 4th line energy/physical role player now that he has been placed in a top 6 role.

He's done that.
He's been a third liner since the second game of the season. This fourth liner thing has to stop. He played the third line all last season, he started the year on the fourth line and quickly moved up the roster ... currently to the second line.
He's not a fourth liner any more than he's a second liner.

Bennett started the (pre) season on 4L and immediately was moved up. He hasn't been down since. They keep giving him more in fact.
This could be related to the item I posted above. Bennett's agent wants to see him get more time and responsibility and the Flames understand they need to push Bennett to achieve more.

His point production is decent for a 4th liner or 3rd liner, as per league averages (legitimate question from me)?

For sure ...
I think he is a third liner ... but the difference between a third and fourth liner is pretty significant to me.

The Flames need Bennett on this particular soft roster more than they do not.
Teams need a mixture of these physically competitive good skating quick players to succeed especially into the playoffs.
He contributes in ways other players on this team do not.
If Bennett can complete more opportunities for third line points that's a bonus.

To me it looks like Bennett neuters his lines production. Any player he plays with goes in to a slump. Every line he is on stops producing. For those that track lines and players closer, am I way off here?
He doesn't utilize his linemates well. Give him the puck and the other 2 guys may as well go to the bench.
Treliving built a team with 3 scoring lines. Bennett is a 4th liner here because he can't play offense effectively.
Wish him well, but imo what you see is what you get.

I am saying this in jest:
Sam Bennett nuetered the second greatest scorer of all time last year! Not even Wayne Gretzky in his prime would put up points playing with Sam Bennett!

That's an interesting thing to look into, probably the best way is to just pick his most frequent linemates and see how they do with and without him.
By time it's three guys ... James Neal, Mark Janowski and Derek Ryan

Great question, and a good answer for what Peters is trying to do. It appears that Bennett is better away from the current lot of third linders that he's been lined up with. Maybe he can help drive the 3M line back to scoring on five on five basis.
