If the Jays won and nobody was paying attention. Did it happen?

Romano looked like crap. But the Jays eked out the win. 12 hits is something positive. I guess Schneider will keep his job for another day.

I was watching on delay, just finished. Nice to see some team-wide hitting, especially with the big guys getting some hits. Vladdy had 3, although one was an infield swinging-bunt type. Pop seems like he might be a player - would be good to get a replacement high-leverage reliever internally given injuries/Swanson having issues. I also agree Romano looked terrible - 3 hits and lucky to get out of the 9th with only 1 run scored, imo.
I also thought it was interesting they put Bassitt back out there in the 7th given his pitch count/where they were. No way analytics agreed with that decision, must be still very limited in the bullpen. Hopefully we get some guys there back soon.
All-in a great game. Good to end the trip on a positive note, hopefully they can carry that momentum into the homestand.

Wow, what a catch Springer. What an effort.
Need a couple more outs here though to get out of this inning with minimal damage.

I assume he's watching the game on delay and just saw Springer catch the bases-loaded sac fly.

Sounds like some solid fundamental baseball, finally, with steals and singles and doubles...and rock solid from Bassitt.
Can't have team meetings everyday, so hopefully they can find some
consistent footing at home.

Agreed. Five hits in the 6th is great - been awhile since they had that many in one inning for sure.
I also think it was great that Springer stole second base in the 3rd. Without that he doesn't score, and I think they play better with a run on the board.

I was listening to the Joe Maddon, Tom Verducci podcast and hitting is at historic lows. League avg of .239 is the 4th lowest in history. (1908, 1909 and 1968). 1908 and 1909 were the dead ball era and the had to lower the mound after 1968.
The Jays are 22th in avg and ops
Elly De La Cruz is a phenomenon in Cincinatti and as a team, they are dead last .209 avg.

Interesting how Steve Phillips writes on TSN about his experience firing people, certainly setting the table for Schendier's eventual release.
Buck loves good baserunning.
