Yes, exactly.
Much easier to teach him the few things he doesn’t know.
The stuff he is good at can’t be taught.
If he can keep his offence and improve his durability and defensive awareness that would be great.
Assistant coach for team Canada did mention Zayne D is underrated as he does a lot of clever stuff that’s not super obvious.

You can teach almost any drafted player to be Rhett Warrener.
In a million years could never teach Rhett to be Zayne Parekh. He’ll be the first person to tell you that.

Something you and I agree on here. I want Misa and Parekh together. I wouldn’t trade them for each other. I’d rather some creativity to get Misa

Teams don't trade the #2 pick the year after they are drafted. He projects to be a top center.
It would take Parekh ++ for the Sharks to even consider it. He would be the top center in the draft coming up this year if he was not already drafted.

The point wasn’t to make a realistic trade proposal, it was more so that the flames should consider nobody on their roster untouchable. For the right offer for anyone should be available.

Nope. I watched both play a lot in the OHL and Misa might become a #1 C but I think he ends up a winger. Zayne is special man, give it time. I think if we made that trade it would go down as a huge mistake down the road. If you look back on my draft thoughts that year I had Zayne as my 3rd ranked player behind only Celebrini and Hage ( who I took flack for having him that high) and the clear best D man in the draft. I stand by that. Both teams say no anyhow.

I know you have been high on Zayne. I also know some others are not.
For me it simply comes down to center is the much more valuable position. And Misa is the safer pick, Zayne is riskier to bust. Imo.

I really hope Stromgren plays great and pulls a Kuznetzov.
It’s really gonna take some external motivation to get the flames off their asses and making deals. If I was Conroy, I would’ve gone to Buffalo. If it’s true that upper management is meddling in his affairs why would anyone want that job? I know there’s a bunch of has beens and washouts that will take a job like that. And a bunch of up-and-coming guys like Treliving, that would take it just to fulfil their lifelong dream of being an NHL general manager. But for people that don’t want to just make up the numbers, I can’t imagine a less interesting job than being GM of the Calgary Flames.

My hot take is that we have the better Misa already.

I don't know how anybody watches the WJC and then says they would trade Parekh for Misa. No way, IMO.
Re: Sandman's take... love ya, and I am with you on size and grit being important, but I have never disagreed with you more than on your take on Parekh. "flashy individual efforts, and that’s just not going to fly at the NHL level"? Dafuk? The NHL is all about making plays, and the #1 problem the Flames have had almost perpetually (Gaudreau notwithstanding) is a lack of playmakers. Parekh has Housley/Hughes playmaking talent. Simply brushing off his defense as something that will always be bad, and the dismissing his offense as not NHL-worthy... well, that's a take.
I think you're way off on this one. (and I know you hope I'm right and you're wrong)

Did I miss a post ? You clearly liked him but I do see any posts where you go top three bold. And no one gave you flack (since it didn't happen).

But to be honest, Rhett is right more than he is wrong. So hoping it is a rare time you both are wrong.

Oh wow, we are really at this level where there is a discussion about not writing off the 19 year old who just broke the record for most points by a Canadian defensemen at the wjc. The amount of pessimism you must have as a fan to have watched this kid score the kind of goals he scored and think “ehhhh let’s find a way to damper the mood about him” or the best yet “maybe they should trade him.” This is exactly why Canadian fanbases have the reputation they have. Some of the takes in here are brutal. Great you think the kid has weaknesses, no #### every prospect does but it really is an interesting time to harp on his compete/defence/effort considering the tournament he just had.

Is it just me, or has Kadri looked a bit lackadaisical lately? Makes me wonder if he has been asked for his no-trade list?

Funny to call me out on this considering I am one of the ones defending him. Be mad at the real Rhett Warrener or some other posts, don't whine to me.

Of course we are!
He’s not a real prospect, after all. He wasn’t drafted in the top 3!

The vibe around the team has seemed off post-Christmas. So yes, I think there’s something there.

Fair, your post just made me laugh. I’m not arguing with you, just pointing out how ridiculous the conversation is. Glad you aren’t writing him off tho!
