The nice thing about the return from the Lindholm trade is it opens up focusing on forwards in the other deals. The blueline looks waaaaaay different now with Poirier, Kuznetsov, Solovyov, Morin, Brzustewicz, and Jurmo in the system. Those two extra bodies make a huge difference IMO. A very solid start to a possible reload.

I'm also starting to think that Mareks idea of Vladar + for Hertl might not be far fetched as some want to think.

The Tanev rumors to Ottawa scream of a pissed off Ottawa leaking it. Ottawa isn't in a position to pay up because they're not in contention but they probably really want him this off-season. If I were to take a best guess, they've probably heard of a team like Montreal or Buffalo talking trade for a price they don't want to pay in hopes they can extend him before hitting free agency, and Ottawa is leaking it to make it known they will go for him in the off-season. Could be made up in my head but Ottawa coming out with such a strong push screams to me a purposeful leak.

Anyway, I'm guessing Tanev gets a 2nd and a 3rd.

With the amount of teams in on Tanev, I'd assume the return would be higher. IMO at least 2 2nd's. Is a low 1st out of the question? I think he is worth it. Tanev is an absolutely solid defensive defenseman.

He's a perfect shiny item for a playoff team. Will a team pony up a 1st? I'd like to see it. I guess it depends who else is there on the open market, but I'm always skeptical of the willingness to deal 1sts for non-stars. Tanev is super solid and will play his heart out. Really depends how much a team loves him to give up a 1st. I want to see it, I just don't know until it happens. Frankly I hope it's a 1st for next year. Gotta stagger things out a bit.

I really like that Conroy has set the market so high for UFAs going into the TDL… it’s a very important move considering he has potentially 2 other big UFAs remaining. If the acquisition for Lindholm was low, it could have set the market a little lower for all UFAs this year.

Montreal has to be happy about this too. I think this suggests Monahan should return a 1st round pick as well. And now that Lindholm is gone, Monahan likely becomes the best UFA centre available and is at a reasonable cap hit.

Also, with Lindholm going for what he did, I wonder what Guentzel goes for now. A 1st, 2nd, a good young prospect or two and a lesser roster player to even out money?

I'm taking Lindholm most days. Kunitz is an example of what Crosby does for one's value. I see Guentzel in the same light. Maybe a 1st an a b-prospect, to some suckers' detriment.

As for Monahan, he's played okay but where is the sudden trade value coming from? He's not a game changer for a playoff contender. How is he suddenly the talk of the town? I think some posted his advanced stats rating being poor, and some GM is going to overpay for a bottom two line guy on a cup contender? I wish the best for the guy but no way he gets a 1st.

I think there are likely lots of offers for Tanev right now that are all likely a 2nd + a 3rd round pick… that’s probably what Vancouver was willing to add to the Lindholm deal to make Conroy include Tanev as well. Conroy likely looks at it as being able to get that anyways from any of the teams interested in Tanev. He’s probably waiting for one of these teams to crack and offer up a first round pick or at least a conditional first round pick (the condition being something like having to make it to the 2nd round and he has to play at least 4 games in the playoffs). I think it’s a good strategy. He is a highly coveted player because there just is not many guys available that do what he does. Keep it going Conroy… squeeze that first round pick from someone.

Wouldn't shock me it the Lindholm deal triggered a crazy rush on Tanev, as early as tomorrow.

And I am curious if there's something brewing with a player who has term left to have some retention. Markstrom, Mangiapane... who knows!

Respect your opinion but I value Guentzel higher than you do. He's a 35-40 goal scorer IMO Crosby or not.

Well, Connie's still talking about playoffs so.....
How much do you want to bet he clears off the UFAs, then uses some assets to go out and add. Would not shock me if he pulled off both selling and buying in the same two week window.

I can see the Sens throwing some cash at Tanev in the offseason, but why in the world would they try to contend with the deadline teams and add him mid-season?

I mean, it's the Sens and they're wacky but I don't see them as serious contenders for Tanev.

4th becomes a 3rd if the Canucks make the WCF.
