I would say that any political party that campaigned on ending the TFW program entirely would get my vote, but I know that will never happen since all sides are too deep into the pockets of the oligarchs that are the ones running the country now

You should wear that and hit the town with Dion in his elf costume. That's my Halloween dream, anyway.

The code that there needs to be only two crappers per floor downtown needs to be raised. I actually drive home at lunch to crap a lot of days. Its ridiculous.

and when did crapping Full Metal Jacket military style become the norm. I think its way less invasive for someone to see my genitals that to hear and smell my ####.

Gotta see their legs, why? Fat fata gets stuck in there. Who cares.

This has come up before but I don't understand how we, as a society, still can't figure out how to zipper merge. Happens every day on Memorial Dr. eastbound around 14th St.

Yesterday it was backed up to the old CBC site with not a soul in the left lane. I did what I always do, and stay in the left lane until the very end, like you're supposed to. But then when I tried to get in someone got on the horn and was quite aggressive with not letting me in. Fine, I get that they view me following the rules of the road as rude. The kicker? They stopped to turn left onto northbound 10th St which is absolutely not allowed according to the giant no left turn sign.

But seriously, stop being so ####ing polite and just zipper merge.

How does the zipper work if some earlier mergers get in?

Half-zippers are the worst.

This is one of the very few parts of life the middle east has totally right and solved. ####ter stalls are very private and roomy. Even at the airport. Full floor to ceiling doors/ coverings, the smell in general is very contained to the individual pods, and privacy in the bathroom in general seems to be highly valued.

Yep. In heavy traffic they actually slow things down further. The funny part is that many of them merge early thinking they are getting ahead but end up watching the cars behind them in the merge lane that actually understand the concept end up merging ahead of them.

It's always great because they shoot you death glares for passing them while they've dived in haphazardly to the traffic line and you wind up way ahead of them.

Dumbass, it's everyone else who should be irate at you for being an idiot and not understanding one of the basic traffic implements.

In general i always find it's the worst/ most incompetent or ignorant drivers who have the most rage towards those around them. What gives?

Confused people are typically more prone to anger and fits of rage. I have experienced it when they know you were behind them in the merge lane and see you are projecting to merge ahead of them so they purposely ride the bumper of the car ahead of them to not let you in at the merge point. Then there's just the oblivious drivers that seem genuinely surprised and angry when you scoot in front of them at the end of the merge lane with the "How dare you take the spot ahead of me!" cursing.

This is basically SB Deerfoot to Glenmore every morning. Also for whatever reason, some people already in the exit lane, stay so far to the right that you think there is a gap you can merge into, but lo and behold, there’s just some dude hugging the shoulder as if there is a possibility that at 10kph they might need to veer off the road to avoid rear-ending the guy in front.

I still get excited going Memorial East to Deerfoot north turnoff. The late stragglers who try to scoobie in last minute to head onto Deerfoot.

I will scan my left for someone who is about to do that last minute lane change, so I will leave a big optical gap that is just perfect but I get my speed up just to match them.

No, you aren't getting ahead of me at the last minute......and guess what, when you decide that getting ahead of me won't work and try to slip in behind me. Nope. Oh no, I will not let you get in behind me either. I know what you are doing and I will slow down for that too. Exactly side by side while I look you in the eyes. Now you have to go straight until Blackfoot and lose your mind. It is bliss.

I absolutely never look in the lane with vehicles, I keep my head forward and just imagine all the gestures they are making at me. Lifted RAM? Ya, that guys gonna be flailing around like wacky waving inflatable arms guy! Good stuff!

I live it every day merging from 32nd Ave onto northbound Deerfoot trail in rush hour on my trek home. All the scenarios discussed play out daily/weekly. We just have to accept that a portion of the population that will never, ever understand the concept of a zipper merge.

4X4 said it best. If you look like you are in a hurry and are driving with purpose. You can go ahead of me all day long, but if you are a struggler, you can get behind me. That's become my driving philosophy.

That's what the wave is for, to be Canadian and say sorry even if you're not wrong. Or I guess you could always elect to use your hazards for a few seconds. That should be recognized by the others as a universal sign that it's OK.

And if some jackass pulls over and starts screaming, just say you forgot your glasses and didn't see the sign until the last moment. Again, Canadian way of saying sorry to diffuse things even if you're not wrong.

Yep. If I'm cranking 20-30 over the limit and you're baring down on me, I'll get out of the way. If you're doing speed limit with others like you're playing red rover, I'm ok with that, but I'd love it if you'd let others driving with a purpose to pass.

I will preface this by saying that for the last 10 years of my working life - pretty much my entire professional life - i have walked to work. I know have a job that requires me to drive to work.

I loathe driving to work. It's the worst part of my day. I typically take backroads to get to and from so as to avoid idiocy. So most of my daily gear grinders are car related - which is not unlike when i used to walk to work as my daily gear grinders were when cars would almost hit me.

In any event. I'm driving southbound on 8 ST SW, turning left into the back alley located here:

https://www.google.com/maps/@51.0387...oASAFQAw%3D%3D

This back alley is a particular gear grinder for me since they opened a Tim Hortons on this street because (1) I hate tim hortons; (2) people will park in this back alley to run in and grab a coffee; and (3) Doordash/Skip drivers will park in this back alley to wait for deliveries.

For actual people needing to use the back alley, the skip drivers are a huge nuisance and i have gotten to the point where i will honk at them for about 30 seconds each just to piss them off. As you may already know, i hate food delivery services and their drivers.

So i am turning left. I typically float into the space between yellow lines to allow people on 8th Avenue to get past me while I wait for an opening. A food delivery driver behind me, in some beat up, hail damaged ####box last minute decides hes also going to turn left into the alley (to ,quelle surprise, park in the back alley and wait for his food order. (hereinafter referred to as "Dasher")

Dasher didnt turn into the yellow space between lanes so as he is waiting for me to turn, he is getting antsy as people are waiting for him. So he honks at me. I do nothing. I can't turn yet, bud. People are coming. He then proceeds to pull ahead of me and cut me off to turn left before me.

Like ####ing #### you are. I laid on my horn and rolled down my window and called him every synonym for idiot i could think of. He eventually got mad and went straight in order to loop around the block.

I couldnt believe the audacity. Dude, you ####ed up. Make the loop and come back. Don't turn this street into some cluster####, no rules situation just cause you want to go park illegally in the back alley to wait for some god damn cold and soggy slop.

This area of the city has gotten particularly bad. And i will 100% blame it on Dashers like this idiot.

Office potlucks - Barf.

Also another grinder. Apple watches (and their ilk). Noticed people with them have no problem just halting the conversation for awkward lengths of time to read whatever message has come up on the watch, Way more than people do with phones it seems. Now I have to stand there and observe them while awkwardly breaking the silence knowing they are not listening to me and it usually just ends the conversation there and I just walk away. Seems to be older people who do it more.

One thing I wondered was how often it makes more sense to spend $30K on a vehicle, or Uber every day.

Assuming $60 a day round trip, that's 500 days. 50 weeks a year, 5 days a week mean that's around 2 years worth of Uber. Potentially more on just commuting if you're hybrid and not in office 5 days a week. Double that to almost 4 years of commutes on a $60K vehicle.

That's without factoring in earning interest on the $30K, Uber One, fuel, insurance, repairs, parking and other operating costs once you have a vehicle. It depends many other factors like if you have many other non commuting trips though.

Lots of people seem to hate vehicle ownership/driving which is why I wonder. I don't think they realize that they might fit in a situation where it's $10-15K a year on Uber vs $15K+ a year on average for vehicle ownership (ICE, Hybrid or EV).

It's an efficiency/flexibility trade off. Flexibility is obviously a deal breaker for many.
