Agreed. The so call first line in Calgary is a fake. Bubble team will burst. I am not mad as I know when Dallas ties the game this is going to be a 2-2 series.

If Dube would have passed to Bennett instead of shooting early in OT, it would have been a tap-in as well.

Exactly.... not to mention flames bench is on the long side.

You can still block a shot or make a mess of things... you don’t just flee the zone

Back to back years the Flames have been absolutely dominated 5v5 and have had to rely on their goalies to play godly to even stand a chance

One make up call for that landslide the other way would be cool.

Congrats to the refs on a game well managed?

Well don't bother watching then. Its a three game series, anything can happen.

That's the playoffs for you.

After Brodie broke his stick, Forbort had a chance to ice it.

I get that it's not what players do, but it's wrong. That mindset needs to change.

How many goals need to be scored as a result before they change it up?

Flames were obviously going to lose the series as soon as the stars pulled the goalies. Flames p*****d out as usual, and gave up the game tying goal and played with their tails between the legs thd entire OT.

Men vs boys. Gio really ought to think about retiring, he basically sucks at this point.

Out worked, out classed, out coached. Not a good effort yet again.

The better team won and deservedly so.

Disagree strongly

The Flames lack of discipline cost them the game. They can play with the Stars if they stay out of the box.

My point is I completely disagree with that logic, especially if the play goes on for a while, in that time you could have got a new stick while you played "short-handed" anyway

I know, but I really think it's time to re-examine this because it intuitively does not make any sense given the way the game is played nowadays. Having a guy without a stick is almost as bad as not being there at all, and you have to be in that position for longer. The time it takes to get a new stick, or change, is enough time for the other team to maybe get a shot off. If you're stuck in no man's land without one for the entire time that they're in your zone, that seems like a much better chance to score.

If someone in the analytics community looks into it and comes to the conclusion, "actually being shorthanded for that few second is worse", fine, but it doesn't seem like anyone is even questioning this potentially obsolete piece of hockey wisdom.
