I don't understand why they just try to shell so hard. So many times they actually have time to make a play and kill another 30 seconds or *gasp* score a goal, yet they just dumped it down the ice.

Reffing isn't the primary issue. The Flames have been awful.
Even Gio completely missed the mark on that PK that led to the goal.

The officiating has been dogs###.
But it doesn't change the fact that the Flames have been outclassed by the Avs for most of this series.
Flames have to steal the win here to have any hope of advancing.

how about guadreau, monahan, giordano, etc.. not putting up points
I haven't watched the whole game, but in the 10-15 minutes between the 2nd and 3rd periods I've seen, I'm surprised the Avs haven't already won this one (and no, not because of the refs, but because they have actually had pressure in our end)

Hopefully Flames come out to win and not simply withstand. Avs are ready to break, no way they could handle 10 minutes of Flames push. If they go back on their heels they won have anything left to get them up.

I don't think we should jump to conclusions. The facts are the Flames have lost the possession battle by a significant margin three games in a row. But I don't think that means the team sucks and I don't think we need to jump to conclusions about any of the players. The Flames are a good team. They were a top-5 possession team all regular season. If they can win this game, I hope to see another improvement from game 4 to 5 just as we saw from game 3 to 4.
The fact is the Avs have a player the Flames can't match up against and are playing him like 24 minutes per 60 so far. That's not gonna help.
