Op Ed in the Herald today from Ron Ghitter, former MLA and former Senator.

Thoughts?
I totally support everything Ghitter has proposed. Alberta needs to fight for its economic future with every mechanism available.

Long article, but well worth the time. The author draws a line between two types of 'conservative' populism in Alberta and connects one to Kenney and the other to Notley.

Haven't read the article yet, but that image/animation is great.

Just a heads up, starting at 6 PM, The National will be streaming online tonight, speaking to Rachley Notley who will be taking questions live about Alberta and its role / impact in the country / economy.

CBC Article

Being streamed at CBCNews.ca, and the National's Facebook page.

In the last few days, this hateful message was received at the Markaz Ul Islam, a beautiful mosque in Edmonton. We are shocked by the flagrant display of white supremacy that has now literally arrived on our doorsteps.

We call on Jason Kenney and the United Conservative Party of Alberta to reject this message, and to take this opportunity to clearly condemn Islamophobia in Alberta.

We are Albertans.
We are Muslims.
We will always work to spread love, peace, and equality in our beautiful province.

To be fair, Kenney has already responded to this, at least over Twitter. He rejects it in no uncertain terms.

Is this a sarcastic reference to the instances where people do terrible things in the name of Islam and Muslim churches in Canada that obviously don't condone those sorts of actions and clearly have nothing whatsoever to do with the perpetrators are called upon to condemn them?

Or is it a serious and really tone deaf request?

That original letter seems either like a couple of kids, or generated solely to incite a political response of condemnation.

It seems like a cartoonish racist 'best of' list, which leads me to believe that it's either the product of idiocy, or designed to look like one as a crappy joke, to see what would happen.

From Notey's Appearance on CBC last night

I don't know if the NEB matters right now, we know that there are environmentalist groups pre preparing lawsuits going after the consultation and the marine safety question.

She can't just sit there and say Shovels in the ground, because there's just not trust that its going to happen until we hear from the courts.

Or to give Kenney an opportunity to condemn something and win some support from his non-white, non-Christian base.

That letter though is all kinds of stupid and hypocrticial. Calling out a religion for covering women, and then in the same sentence referring to women as "our women". Real progressive.

Wouldn't shock me, this election is going to be ugly. It's going to be the racists vs the commies, prepare yourself.

Surprised this isn't getting more attention. It's pretty much a blatant example of a human-trafficking scheme.

Now there’s an anti-abortion group campaigning to get people to run for the UCP. I’m not linking their website, but they say if the UCP is elected they’ll have the most pro-life government, maybe ever.

They're delusional and stupid. Kenny isn't going to open up that can of worms, that's the quickest path to losing the next election.

Or being a one term government.

Are these people really that clueless?

This doesn’t improve there most pro-life government ever chances.
