It will be one of these IMO Leaning towards the six year term. That puts him up for a new contract just as Giordano's contract expires and we can give him the moon if he's earned it.
6 year term would be a huge mistake in my opinion. Gives Johnny the quickest route to YFA and in your contract offerings only $750k would but 2 more years.
I don't see the Flames paying Johnny over $6.5 to buy a single year of free agency.

Again, I don't think this handled by individual contracts. I'm almost certain that this is a NHLPA thing.

But... his camp was exploring the idea of JG earning dollars directly from royalties, not via the NHLPA. This was mentioned quite a while back as well.
