I'm sorry but did the Boston PD just pull the whole "Well, we lost him" and instruct the cops to make stomping noises that gradually got quieter so it sounds like they left and the guy pops his head out?

My guess is they knew he was in that yellow house and then called off the shut down of Boston hoping that would lead him out.
