So there's a very good/purposeful reason for Luke not being on the poster. I highly doubt that it's cause he's a member of the new order. There are three big bads and none of them are acted by Hamill. So what could it be?
Is it that he's already deceased and only appears as his force ghost? Perhaps the protagonists go on a hunt to find him without any luck, and he finally appears to Boyega and Rey. They couldn't put that on the poster as it would be too revealing.

Just remember, Yoda wasn't on the original Empire poster, nor was Obi-wan on ANH.

Maybe Mark Hamill isn't on the poster, because he's straight up let himself go. Have you guys seen photos of Mark Hamill recently? He's not selling anything to anyone.

Sorry, this literally made me laugh out loud.
Mark 'El Gordo' Hamill.
"Hey Mark, um...you can stop growing that beard anytime now buddy, we're done post-production...also, I'm not sure you get to keep the robes...oh God! Is that just a bedsheet?!? Dear Lord man!!"

I have seen photos of him, and he looks badass with the beard. He's ANH Obi Wan incarnate.
Lol unlikely though. You could say the same for Carrie Fisher but she's on there (and thankfully not in the gold bikini this time).

Hamill doesn't looks so bad now. Neither does Fisher. I think they both did some work on themselves for this.

Haha in addition to that, just since the announcement of the movie, the difference between what they look like at conventions today, and what google image search brings up is pretty stark.
Carrie not so much (still better tho), but Hamill looks miles better. Plus his beard is sick, I hope he keeps it.
And since you had to see old Carrie, here is previous Carrie...
Best part about this one is you know there's no photoshop. Damn, Princess.

I was watching the one trailer where the land speeder goes buy the downed star destroyer and for whatever reason I really noticed the scale of the star destroyer.
A facility to build such a machine would be mind boggling, not to mention how would such a machine be designed?

Massive things like that will be built in space. Much like you see in star trek movies when they do the fly byes around the space dock.

Really interesting theory on the original plan for Jar Jar being a Sith in control of it all. Sounds ridiculous at first, but when you realize how much Lucas borrowed from Asimov's "Foundation" and that Jar Jar could be The Mule it really makes sense. Just that Lucas bailed on the idea after Episode One and the massively negative reaction to Jar Jar.

Frankly I doubt that theory, its just something a fan boy pulled up from hand gestures etc. I think when George wrote the character he wanted another Wicket, that would sell a bunch of toys, and that Christopher Lee was a bland villain.
I tend to think that he wanted more of Jar Jar but after the backlash he severely cut back on Jar Jar's character and then made him the major dupe to Palpatine in that his decision to second the granting of emergency powers really started the end of the republic and the start of the Empire.
In ROTS he had no significant screen time at all until the funeral scene.
Robot chicken even spoofed it when Palpatine phoned him before his death to apologize and Jar Jar laughed and pulled on a Sith robe.
But I don't buy the theory being laid out here.
