Very minimal. $100 for the one-up 42T/16T from their website (and find that I don't even need this climbing cog for city use... If I had to do it again, I'd just do the narrow-wide chainring with regular cassette). The narrow-wide chainring can be had for $55 at MEC or sites like wolftooth/absoluteblack. I abolutely love it. So simple, no getting your pant-leg dirty on the front mech.

Bossy - XX1 drivetrain I presume? I wanted one but can't justify 1200USD for a city bike. The one complaint I have about my XX1-wanna-be drivetrain is that the shifting is not as clean as it could be. I guess the XT mech isn't made for 42T sprockets...

And if anyone is interested in finding a good deal for me I need about a 19" or 20" frame

Something like this? 6061 aluminum... Vitus is CRC's house brand.

I'm pretty sure discount codes can be stacked on top of clearance prices too. Get the latest 10% off code from this thread: http://forums.mtbr.com/where-best-de...697141-19.html

That's perfect except for frame size.

Do you get hit with duty or brokerage ordering from chain reaction?

What's the difference between the various grades of aluminum? I assume strength to weight ratios?

Picked up my wifes new bike yesterday.. She got a Cannondale Carbon Synapse 6 with full 105 and upgraded Kyserum Equipe S wheels.. She is actually out on her first ride with it this afternoon..

Seems like a nice bike and being a 2014 got a good deal on it.. We were leaning towards the EVO with the electric shifting but the extra $2k we couldn't justify at this point and the frame is upgrade able to the electric if she wants to do it down the road

Should be a nice step up from her old Cannondale Alloy we got her 3 or 4 years ago when she started doing Triathlons.

Stock image without the wheel upgrade.

I'm looking to buy a bundle of things. Anyone have a supplier or store they recommend that will make this purchase less destructive to my wallet?

-U-lock (bike should be valued at about $1000)
-front fender
-rear rack that can sort of act as a fender
-bike pump for the new high pressure tires
-simple bell

Rode my bike from Crowfoot to the Zoo. Amazing day, saw some Rockhopper Penguins and their crazy hairdo situation, the weather was perfect too.

I think I'm gonna ride my bike to the Flames game tonight. Should be fun combining two of my favorite things!

I'd start by stopping by the LBS......then I'd try MEC. Sportchek may also be on option....online would be my last option.......

Is your frame setup for a rack.....

MEC will hands down have the best prices for that. Not sure how their new line of U locks are though.

Has anyone gone out to Glenbow Ranch to ride? We just want an evening ride that we aren't having to go too far out for and where we aren't having to deal with traffic. Not exactly sure where it's located and which loop might be best.

Is there anything wrong with this bike.

http://www.sportchek.ca/product/inde...767829.3758104

I am basically looking for a decent Hard Tail mountain bike for easy single track type stuff as posted above. After some research was looking for a Deore set up for under $1000.

Sportchek has a 25% off sale which would bring this bike with shipping and tax to about $850. Which seems better than any LBS option or other online option I can find. Is there anything that would stand out as a do not buy on this bike. I am a little leary buying from sportcheck.

The drivetrain is all Deore. The front shock is a rock shox so not a crappy suntour although still an entry level fork. The only thing that stands out is the OEM hubs which I know nothing and can't find anything about.

Any thoughts?

I got my order from Chain Reaction today. They did a good job. Unfortunately, Canada Post screwed up. CR correctly declared the value of my goods at $103.48 CAD. Canada Post saw that amount and decided that exchange rate from CAD to CAD would be 1.7882, driving the value up to $185.04. I got charged 12% on an additional $81.56, and they also charged me a $9.95 processing fee for their error. I get the package came from the UK, and that is likely the GPB exchange rate, but it very clearly states on the package it's in CAD. As it was only $103, I didn't think they'd charge me taxes and handling anyways, since the amount was small. With the "exchange rate" it looks like a big amount, and then all taxes and fees are levied.

^What did you buy? Bike parts are duty exempt. Assembled wheels and bikes are not.

They only charged me PST and GST (BC delivery), and no duty. To get the money back I'll have to file a complaint and request a return from Canada Post. I'm sure it'll get sorted out, but still a bit of a pain.

That is good to know about assembled wheels though, as I'm looking at upgrading in the spring.

I got nailed on taxes/duty (something like 12% + GST) for a set of 650b carbon hoops/hope hubs off light-bicycle (China manufactured) but not on a set of Hadley/Stans for the wife's bike (from a shop in Cali). I wonder if it has something to do with where it's sent from...

Went to lake minnewanka today to bike there.........we only did 10k and did not get to the ranger station.

Forgot how busy this trail is.......to me this trail offers a bit of everything, some pretty tough climbs, some somewhat technical stuff, loose rock and a bit of danger as in some places the drop off is punative to put it mildly and some lowly stuff. Problem is you can't really open it up as the trail is narrow and busy.

All in all it was a great day to be out there......only a couple of more weekends left to ride.

Took the morning off to squeeze in a final ride for the season. Did the Highline loop in Canmore. Very fresh bear turd everywhere (the fresh kind that sticks to your tire and clumps on the crown of your fork) at the trailhead that's just below the nordic center in the parking lot.

How do you all keep your cardio through the winter? I'm thinking of joining that Peloton place downtown.
