I've been on a plane that did exactly that too.

Until this year it was probably the scariest thing that I've experienced on a plane. It wasn't that bad though, just unexpected.

Wow, good decision. Very low energy go around, but the right thing to do as opposed to trying to save the landing with an airplane with that much mass.

I want AC to place a huge order for these to get the ball rolling.

Narita never fails to give us some great challenging weather landing videos.

I hate randomly checking out Flight Radar and seeing all the cool planes and airlines passing over and around the Calgary area without touching down.

Happened to me at ORD and at YYC.

So what happened this year?

Yeah mine happened on a Air Canada flight to Frankfurt but it wasn't from weather. Apparently their was an accident of something, I don't remember. I was like 13. I remember that we were level with the tops of trees and then we gunned it all of the sudden. A lot of people screamed.

This year I had a extremely crappy, loud, vibration filled, turbulent take off from Ibiza followed be 40 minutes of straight turbulence with some pretty wild drops. I normally don't get scared during a flight but that had my heart going. Could've been the hangover though

Those few seconds of screaming send such a shiver down my spine.

Bit of an odd dilemma in that, as an aspiring controller, it's greatly insightful to listen to these... but they are just so horrific that I can't bring myself to listen to the tapes from the other flights. Someday.

Beautiful airplane. Just touched down after almost 5 hours in the air, she's taxiing in now. Can't wait to see what AC does with the interior in these things. Hopefully a special scheme... that's 20 777's they've got now and no special livery.

BTW, WestJet Encore's ICAO (3 letter) code has been changed to WEN. Apparently ATC didn't like WJE as it was too similar to WJA.
