Maybe.

Pitchers don't get much time to develop in the minors if they've got stuff, so veteran catchers are always valuable.

Zaun, for example, woulda been out of the league five years ago if he played any other position, but as a wily veteran catcher he makes an entire pitching staff better.

Hmmmm. The Yankees and Orioles game on RSW is in rain delay. Bonus coverage is the Blue Jays game right? Wrong! BoSox - Rays.

I gotta believe we'd be right pissed about this if it was still May. September, not so much.

And then the Sox game goes into rain delay as well, and they go to an entirely different game again. I can only laugh.

Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun says the Jays turned down an offer from the Red Sox that would have landed the Jays 6 pitchers for Halladay.

Quote:
General manager: J.P. Ricciardi ran the Roy Halladay trade show the way Chuck Barris ran The Gong Show. Halladay, his best asset, was tossed on the market for 26 days of breathless updates, forced to give interviews on the way to the bullpen for his all-star start in St. Louis.
"I have zero idea why they didn't take the Boston offer," said a National League scout this week. "The Red Sox offered Clay Buchholz, Justin Masterson, Daniel Bard, Michael Bowden, Felix Doubront and Nick Hagadone.
"The same Toronto scout who told me Boston's offer told me they didn't do it for two reasons."
Initially, the Jays spent days deciding whether Masterson projected better as a starter or a closer and, when they reached a decision, they didn't think he'd succeed in that role. Secondly, "the Jays were worried about Halladay beating them next year."
"We don't have a quality arm like Halladay," said the scout, "but I've seen four of those (Red Sox) arms and they're quality. Hit on three of six and you'd be fertile for a long time."

100 RBI for Lind. What a ridiculously successful season for him.

Alex Rios has been an absolute disaster for the White Sox. His OPS is .371. It's like he mailed it in after he went to a team that was in a pennant race. Maybe the Blue Jays did get lucky with someone else being willing to take him on.

To be fair, they fell out of the race within a week of his arrival. Still no excuse to OPS 371 though. Jmac can OPS higher.

I'm sure eating crow about Rios, or at least I will be when we spend the money in the offseason. (Bay?)

I was happy he beaned the guy. The Yankees deserved it after Hill was plunked. First good thing I've seen from Carlson in weeks.

Lind with 30 home runs now to go with the 100 RBI. Pretty nice turn around for a guy who was beginning to think he may not ever be a full time player 18 months ago.

The fisticuffs were pretty funny. Although someone got Carlson pretty good in the melee. I suspect Posada will get a two game suspension or so out of this.

The fight was awesome. The Yankees much like their fans think they are better than anyone, that they can hit other teams batters and they dont deserve to get thrown at.

Then as usual, the classless Posada gives Carlson a shot while passing home, the ump ejects him and Carlson loses it on grease ball Jorge.

I love it when Carlson was walking off when he was beaking at Yankee fans. I wonder if he was saying - what what you paid how much to sit their you currupt banker - hahaha.

He could use the rest. The Bombers need him healthy in the post season.

TSN/CTV messed up then. Good, I was hoping Posada would go for longer than Jesse.

Edit: MLB.com says 3 as well.
