Honestly from a PR stand point, from a fan fav stand point, it will be so disappointing if Johnny G isn't in Edmonton to start the season Wednesday. I don't see how they can't have him signed in the next 24 hours - hopefully that's the case and he's penciled in to start...

There is probably some sort of compensation in their contract. Maybe similar to a realtor contract these days.

Oh no, now he retweeted something about Boston College's ranking. He's obviously signalling that he wants to quit hockey and go back to College full time.

Ok, so I know we all want to resist the urge to overreact to a tweet. Gaudreau is not very active on Twitter, most of his tweets mean something. I'm not going to try to decipher this cryptic tweet and figure out exactly what he means but he's taking a shot at somebody. I would assume that a new contract (not a spat with his gf) is the most significant thing going on in his life right now, so I'd assume this was related to the contract negotiation.

Yeah, I think the ship has sailed on him starting the season for game one at this point. The thing that sucks is once it gets to this point, saving face becomes an issue for both sides. If the Flames falter to start the season and Gaudreau is holding out, the fans are going to revolt. It's so hard to catch up these days and a bad start can kill your season fast.

Agree with your first part, it will be greatly disappointing. But for the second part I'd be absolutely astounded now if he started the season on Wednesday. It just hasn't looked good for a while now.
