There is one slight positive that may come out of this situation, Sieloff has had a bad groin for quite a while, if he was smart he has been given a stretching/yoga regimen that is low impact that will increase his hip flexor flixibility to hopefully decrease the chance of re-injury.

Then again, if the Flames were not smart there didnt address this and the kid is going to get hurt again very quickly with his style of play.

Thanks guys, this is what I thought too before Friday, so I thought maybe they heard something we hadn't yet. Good to hear they were likely just mistaken

Struggling means he's immature, pouting, and not trying to deal with the situation?

I absolutely hate the quote that was taken out of context regarding the prospect tournament at the end of summer because it seems to be blinding people to any positive qualities.

Baertschi has been praised his entire hockey career as being an extremely hard working player.

He will get through this, though I question the patience fans have for a young player who has 24 points in 51 NHL games.

I suppose Iginla is a coach-killer as well, as half of the posters on this forum started to believe.

Where is he pouting? I want to see a quote, and since you won't be able to find it, how about we stop making up bull####?

Some fans are embarrassing.

Some people may be jumping to the conclusion that since he's not playing well he's pouting. That is possible but IMO it's simply a confidence thing and he needs to get back to where hockey is fun again.

Just curious as I am not old enough to remember Paul Reinhart, but what style did he play? Is he more Max or more Griffin?
Its interesting how guys like him are written off. I think most here would say Knight is the better prospect than Reinhart at this point and with Reinhart moving off centre he may still be; but Reinhart is 1.5 years younger and scoring at a much higher pace.

just for confirmation from someone who knows the CBA better than me: the Flames can assign Monahan to the AHL as soon as the Ottawa 67s season ends, correct? Would be fantastic if he could join the Heat for a deep playoff run.

Has there been any recent examples of a rookie playing a full NHL season and the being assigned?

Not saying we should/shouldn't do it either way, just curious.

The new CBA got rid of the "Clear Day", but according to this, the rules related to playoff eligibility are still generally the same: http://pppshow.net/2013/04/04/clarit...r-eligibility/

The key for Monahan is that a player must be on the AHL team's roster at the NHL trade deadline in order to play in the AHL playoffs. Every year, because of this rule, we always see a bunch of teams do "paper transactions" where they assign a player to their AHL affiliate in the morning of the trade deadline, then immediately recall him once the deadline has passed.

Ottawa's last regular season game is March 16, so he would not be able to be sent to Abbotsford on March 5. So, assuming that link is accurate, he will not be able to play in the AHL playoffs this year (he will next season, if they choose).

Nemisz has 5 points in 4 games since joining the Checkers. Stoked for him to get a fresh start, I'm sure the Heat are missing him.

Good for him, hopefully he gets his career on track.

Not sure how the Heat are missing him though.

He was a big part of the energy line with bancks. He played a ton of good minutes for the club this year before he was traded.

They also got a big fat nothing in return for trade and had to sign some ECHLers.

They got a player that scored in the NHL tonight, hehe.

The Flames did,

The Heat just saw the roster subtract by one.

I'll ask tomorrow.

My understanding is that Monahan CAN be sent down once Ottawa's season is done. I think they'd need to do a paper transaction to assign him back to the OHL, and then he'd be able to be shipped up to Abby.

I think.

The AHL’s playoff roster deadline will be Monday, Apr. 22, at 3 p.m. ET, by which time all 16 playoff teams must submit to the league a list of playoff-eligible players. Only those players on a team’s playoff eligibility list, plus signed draft choices and players signed to amateur tryout contracts, are eligible to compete in the Calder Cup Playoffs. Players from lower professional leagues can also be added if they played in at least eight games in the AHL and/or a lower league in 2012-13.
Signed draft choices: Kanzig, Klimchuk, Poirier (Monahan?)
Players on ATOs: Kulak, Culkin, Gordon (in theory)

Presumably college kids would sign and fit into the first category.

You're probably right, I just didn't see him doing much by checking the stats. Didn't realize he was playing on an energy line with Bancks.

So according to this...

http://www.bc.edu/offices/stserv/aca...ent/exams.html

Boston College writes their finals in May, if I am reading this right. So that means for JG to sign his contract with the Flames in April he will have to sacrifice any school progress made this semester?

I know I know, in the scheme of things if you make the NHL, who cares! But what if you don't? Seems like a waste of a semester.

He can sign a contract after the hockey season. The contact only effects sports eligibility... not the ability to go to school and write exams.
