Anyway, I don’t think anyone is struggling with the concept that convenience has value - what’s weird is what people are paying to have delivered to them. Is having a pancake delivered convenient? Yes. Does it give you pause to think, “what the heck?” Also yes. A human weighed all of their options and chose pancake delivery.

There's a saying I heard a lot when I was growing up. When you're snacky, "Your hands are itchy". It basically implies you aren't eating because you're hungry, you're eating because you're bored or just need something to do.
Personally, I rarely get take out, let alone food delivery. My wife and I would rather save the money and I can cook well enough that certain types of foods at certain restaurants are criticized severely by my wife ("I think you make this better" or "It's kinda pricey. Can you try making this at home?")
If I ever elected to have a pancake delivery, it'd probably be a combination of true boredom, but also a situation where I suddenly realize it's not readily available and I don't want to leave, but it'd be epic to have pancakes. Like a calm autumn around sunrise overlooking a misty body of water type of thing.
Pancake wise though, McDs is one of the absolute last pancakes I would ever crave. If I crave pancakes, I'm craving a savory one from somewhere like Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus. Perogy pizza seems to satisfy a similar craving itch.

Don’t forget the privilege of spending 1-2 hours making it!
I love cooking and prefer what I make over probably 80% of comparable take out options… but for that 20%? Nah, come on now.
Spend hours shopping, making dough, making sauce, grating cheese, cutting ingredients, baking the thing… or tap your fingers in your phone for two minutes and have the best pizza you’ve ever had on your doorstep in under an hour.
I dunno man real tough choice.

To me, If I am going to order something from a resto, delivery or not, it should be something that I can't make, or wouldnt want to make. Somehow it makes the cost feel more worth it.

Pancakes are peasant food. McDonalds is literally the perfect place to get a pancake. It just fits.

If people really didn’t understand or were confused or were surprised by the amount of extremely normal basic things that literally 99% of society has zero struggle with as they say they are on here then researchers should probably take notice of this place and study how so many people on the spectrum came together at once.

Next time their delivery driver is parked in the dumbest location creating a traffic jam that you're stuck in for 10 minutes you'll care.
Make your friggin pancakes at home. You literally pour water in a powder and drip it into a pan. It's already a great food for lazy people. And if you're too lazy for that, guess what? You can pull them out of your freezer and put them in a toaster.

My gear grinder isnt that sometime people get food delivery and pay for the convenience, it's that the convenience isnt worth the cost of crappy food driven around by the most entitled parkers/drivers on the planet, at a cost to a restaurant that actually makes it lose money in some circumstances.

I’m sorry, resto? I was unaware that’s a thing. I assume that’s where we order appies and bevvies?

You can get a similar calibre one for free during Stampede week.
At home it's like water, flour, baking soda? Sugar, salt, eggs and milk/butter and upgrade to waffle iron if you want to get fancy?
No. Screw pancakes at McDs. If I'm having breakfast, I'm fighting myself not to get half a dozen basic bitch sausage McMuffins/chicken McMuffins. Mm mm good.
I agree I'd rather get food that I don't want to make or can't make. I can replicate a McD's pancake perfectly. I can make breakfast sandwiches, but I cannot replicate that ####ty quality convenient guilty pleasure like McDs can do.

The worst is 'broke my heart' or 'I'm devastated".
No you aren't. That made up story of a mother dying in Aleppo did not devastate you. When your two kids get ran over and die, that is devastating. Reading about it, NOT IN ANY WAY devastating.

It annoys me that many people complain that costs are high, but waste money like that. It's basically complaining and never checking for a passable solution.
If someone wants convenience, man, people need to look into frozen dinners and other food. Lots of it would be done in the same time it would take to use the app and toss it in the oven/microwave and it's pretty damn good for the price. Some of the $3-4 dollar ones are really good. Other than the sodium and cholesterol concerns, I'd actually consider eating them more. Hell, the no name burritos are fricken awesome for the price and pizza pops are a guilty pleasure.
But for take out though, I think the way I use it the most and have no qualms is when I'm out with friends and we decide to impromptu have dinner together. It's easier at home due to kids, so we'd discuss and order at the science centre or whatever and the wait isn't much longer when we arrive at home/tidy up and whatever. That's an excellent use of food delivery for my situation. I'm paying for convenience and extra time that I need (ie: 20-30 minutes to make the home presentable for when guests arrive).
