During the Calgary water restrictions my work place took to running the dishwasher every 2nd or 3rd day, instead of daily.

Do people pack their dishwashing machines at home the same as they do at work? (except for the sink-dumpers). Totally random locations and orientations regardless of what's already in there.

That’s why I am never touch the dishwasher guy. Opened it once and blew my mind how’d fatackled it was. Never used a company plate. People are hideous in the workplace.

We grow a collection of flowers along our fence line, including 12” between the fence and the sidewalk. Looks nice, pretty and low maintenance. My daughter has her favourites and has said ‘good morning’ and smelt (smelled?) a particular sunflower every day since it’s opened up, and it was the ‘momma’ to the ‘baby’ sunflowers.

Someone took this flower last night. ####ing hate people man.

Squirrels take ours, usually a couple a year go missing. Was it a squirrel?

Maybe another dad and his little girl would stop every morning, the girl smelling the flower and saying “good morning, sunshine” each and every time she saw that one beautiful flower… until the accident…

…now, the doctors say she might never wake up, but tell her father, “if there’s anything you have that might be familiar to her, any songs or smells, a favourite blanket or anything like that… anything might help.” So he brings the blankets, the toys, her mom’s fresh baked cookies… just trying to find some sign she’s still in there… but nothing works. This morning, however, he’s on the walk he used to take with her every morning, just trying to clear his head, when he sees it. “That’s it,” he thinks. He clips off the flower, whispering “thank you” to whoever planted this beautiful thing, rushing to the hospital, to her bedside, and placing the flower just under her nose, whispering… “good morning, sunshine…”

If we just shut the forum down and all kind of went back to normal life after this I would be at peace.

My daughter is a pitcher. This weekend another pitcher took a batted ball to the face.

Nightmare scenario for pitcher parents.

PF's post hits a little close to home this morning.

"Smelled" is correct. Smelt is related to metal working.

I recall using smelt as bait for fishing.

https://www.thesaurus.com/e/grammar/smelled-vs-smelt/

This says smelled and smelt are both correct for past test of smell, but smelt might be a more rare usage in American English.
