I'm thinking that too. I'm trying to find a decent project to work on that will keep my interest. I have this old CRM app I did in VBA (larf) a couple years back for a client. I've been thinking that would be a pretty good starting point.
There are so many things I want to learn right now, and I want to learn them all like... RIGHT now. Rails, Django, Perl, Obj-C, Oracle, HTML5...
My brain is telling me to pick something and follow it through. My ADD is telling me to alt-tab really quickly.

I've only seen one in the wild, and it was a presenter at TEDxuofc when they were only available in the states.
haven't seen any since, but I don't really go anywhere where I would see them. I don't take transit, and I associate with poor, starving university students.

I went fishing this weekend in Discovery area and on the way out we ran into a dad with his 2 kids and his iPad. He was holding the iPad out like a map while he walked down a hiking trail, using it as a map. It looked pretty hilarious and was my first siting in real life of the thing.
I am positive that he probably ate the dirt at some point and put it down out of his face afterward

Django interested me a while back but I never really got into using it. Since you're planning on learning it, do you have any good resources and references for it as a starting point by any chance?

Your brain is right. Get exposed to them all and pick what you like best. But you aren't going to be good at all of them.

I’m certan that the GCC toolchain will support Objective-C. Yep - check out GnuStep.org, which is Objective-C using the GCC toolchain, and is a project that strives to be Cocoa compatible.
It’s not going to be as nice as working native in XCode, but it would get you up and learning the language and some of the foundational classes without having the cash outlay of a Macbook.

If you play around with this and get even a simple hello world app in ObjC to compile and run, let me know - I’d be quite interested to hear what your experience of installing/compiling/running was like.

iBooks finally has some books to purchase in it. Aboot time.
Haven't looked around much in it, but I don't think the selection is huge yet. Better than nothing I guess.

App Store, Hacked. (Updated: iTunes Accounts too.)
Editors Note: This article began with details of one specific app developer hacking iTunes users accounts and purchasing their own apps using those accounts – making it to the top of the iTunes charts. As the story has developed it appears to be far more widespread than just that one particular developer and his apps. We’ve received a number of reports of accounts being hacked and used to make purchases on iTunes. Updates to the story can be found at the foot of the article or we’ve put together a complete list of all the facts and updates to this story here.

Reports of 'App Store Hacked' Greatly Exaggerated
Earlier today a report on TheNextWeb claimed that the App Store had been hacked and that a rogue developer had gamed the system by artificially driving sales to their eBooks. The rise in ranks were noted by competing developers who thought the rise strange given that the books all represented poorly coded Vietnamese-based books.
A couple of reviews left on one of the books revealed that at least two customers had their iTunes accounts compromised to purchase the books. This led to theories that a widespread attack specifically tied to this developer could be the cause of the rise in ranks. Which then led to a cascade of headlines suggesting that everyone's iTunes account was suddenly vulnerable to a coordinated attack. While we do believe that this developer had been trying to game the iTunes ranking system, it's hard to believe that their efforts affected more than a few hundred accounts worldwide.
The Book category in which we found these apps (note, they've been pulled from the App Store) is one of the lowest trafficked categories in the App Store. Based on sales reports we've received from developers, the number of daily sales required to hold a book in the #10-#50 rank seems to range from 50-250 sales a day. That means that even if every sale was based on a compromised account, the actual number of accounts involved are minuscule compared to the 100 million active iTunes accounts.

The App Store wasn't hacked. People's iTunes accounts were hacked. This has been going on for years, and it has nothing to do with anything Apple does or doesn't do... people are just people, and more often then not, they pick some pretty ######ed passwords.

Any word on what the source of this latest spree of hijacked accounts was? Phishing scam? Malware? Just plain horrible passwords that were easily guessed/cracked?
What's Apple's policy on such things?
edit: Policy for refunds, etc that is.

Oh come on, stop being an Apple fanboi.
If I want my password to be 'password' I should be able to make it like that.
I assume the green text isn't needed
