While I'm sure lots of hockey players lean right, that is very different than supporting Trump. Having a moral code of decency and respect for truth, the law, and democracy is incompatible with support of Trump, and I’m sure lots of hockey players, as with many republicans in the US, are disgusted by Trump.

I don't know, there was a study of US pro sports players and their voter registration and the NHL and MLB were very conservative. The NHL breakdown was:

Democrat: 5.6%
Republican: 43.9%
Independent: 48.6%

So 8 Republicans for every 1 Democrat. With the NFL and NBA by comparison, Democrats outnumbered Republicans by nearly 2:1 and 4:1 margins respectively. Given that the Republican party has basically been a Trump cult for the last decade and Trump's approval among Republicans, I would assume a ton of US players are MAGA.

Well there's also a growing contingent of conservatives that don't align with MAGA either.

How many players fall into that group, I'm not sure. But maybe it's a good thing that we don't know. The game is more attractive when political opinions, particularly that of the players, are kept out of it. The apparent detachment from it isn't necessarily a bad thing given how volatile things are.

Which is why the tkachuks being so outspoken about their affinity for trump is so insufferable.

Its not Left and Right...nobody who doesn't depend on Trump for power politically supports him. Not one former president or vice president. (Even his own) Even MTG is now saying he is at the very least covering up for pedos.

History wont be kind. Young millionares with high school educations leaning right isnt a shocker and not what anyone is talking about here.

Well yeah. Trump sympathizers and "the right" aren't synonymous. MAGA are a radicalized/brainwashed segment of conservatives. Lumping them together is doing the reasonable conservatives that didn't sign up for a 21st century replay of fascism dirty.

Same goes for Albertans and separatists. Those outspoken separatists are something in the range of 12-22% of us based on polls. And we know the bulk of Alberta is conservative. They're an outspoken minority, potentially even among the right.

And Trump's approval rating has dropped to the mid 30s which means he's lost a hefty segment of the right since being elected with his failure to follow through on anything, as well as all the smorgasbord of insane #### that's happened.

Assuming the bulk of players would be in trump's corner because of their largely conservative-leaning upbringings may be a rash generalization. I even doubt enthusiasm to be at the white house was equal across the panther's roster. Really I bet a number of players ultimately didn't care and were just enjoying being honored.

When people support somebody as despicable as Donald Trump then they don't deserve a warm welcome, or friendliness , and they deserve to be judged.
