If this moron goes through with those tariffs how’s that going to impact our arena and supplies.

It’s a policy that’s only going to hurt US, Canada, and Mexico and solves absolutely nothing. Tariffs will last 3 days before Trump’s business buddies start to complain about increased costs, and then he’ll find manage some way to save face.

It shouldn't, as long as Canada doesn't put up a 25% tariff of its own in response.

He'll also quickly discover how much the big company bros need their illegal aliens to fill jobs at the bottom for paltry wages.
Anybody actually believe that him and JD Mascara care that much to make some small cities in Ohio and Colorado safer for residents?
Which purportedly isn't actually a problem either.

Yeah I was thinking what if we retaliate with our own tariffs.
Walmart is already talking about raising prices. Enjoy

The entire Midwest would see energy prices rise immediately by about 25 percent. Virtually all of the feedstock to their refining capacity is fed from Canadian sources with no alternative paths available. I highly doubt he goes through with this. It’s bluster.
He will get some lame ass commitment from the goc, exclude energy and claim victory all at once.

Why can’t Trump control the border?

That's the thing. If #### is getting across the border into the U.S., that speaks as much or more about their border security. When you cross the border, you are usually under scrutiny by the border agency of the country you are entering, not the one you are leaving. At lease that is how it works here. In some parts of the world, typically in more authoritarian countries, it works both way.
Anyway, he isn't totally wrong. Our border security sucks, but it's pretty hypocritical of him to look down at Canada while for decades weapons, drugs, and human traffickers have infiltrated Canada from the U.S. I always thought that was more on us and our lax border control, not on them.
It sucks that Canada now has to align policies to appease a dip#### that no one here voted for, but I guess that's the way the world works especially when you are a de facto satellite of a world power.

Man I wish I had loaded up on US$ a year or two ago.
If this goes through I suspect we will see C$ below US$0.65 or lower.

The expert they had on CBC said that if tariffs like that are implemented, Canada's GDP would fall by up to 5% according to some projections.

Would that mean an equivalent decrease in the C$?

Lol...this is kind of funny on both sides.
Is Oprah in charge of the application of Tariffs?
"You get a tariff and you get a tariff! Everyone gets a tariff!!!"
And then of course a version of the obligatory Seinfeld joke.
"You dont even know what a Tariff is, do you?"
Oranguan: "No, but they do...and they're the ones paying them!"

That orange buffoon is going to destroy the US economy. I feel bad for the average citizen down there that didn't vote for this.

LOL, exclude energy. Doubt that is the most important product for the states. They have more than enough capacity of their own. And excluding energy would defeat the purpose of the tariffs.

Actually crude oil and natural gas are Canadas largest export to the us, and it’s not even close. So yeah it’s important, vitally so.
They can’t just flip a switch and supply the refinieries in the Chicago market for example without Canadian crude. They have one supply source, the Enbridge Canadian mainline system. Even if you had excess crude in Texas it can’t get to the refineries uo north, and the refineries in Texas can’t refine extra product and can’t transport it back north if they could.
If he enacts tariffs on crude oil and natural gas the impact will be immediate on many of the battleground states in terms of rising energy costs. It would take decades to try to wean the us off of our energy sources, if it were even possible.

Yeah, energy is clearly important for Canada, but frankly we export a lot more than that to the US. While excluding energy is great, it doesn’t solve anything for us, and that 25% tariff will be catastrophic for some industries.

What a great day.

Haha, great satire! We all know that this doesn’t solve anything. Canada has already announced changes to immigration and we already try to stop drug inflows. How exactly does Trump taking this action solve any of these issues?
