I cannot believe all this talk of cut lettuce! When I was a busboy the lettuce had to be hand-torn.

My wife loves a good wedge salad, while I find them annoying. Give me my Caesar salad with the romaine properly torn up and mixed with bacon bits and dressing. And you better not make me mix the dressing into the salad myself, I am not dressed for sloshing lettuce and Caesar dressing around a tiny bowl with a salad fork, that is a recipe for disaster (and unequal distribution of the dressing within the salad).
The first time I encountered a wedge salad was in 2014 at the Bear Mountain Resort in Victoria. Room service brought my dinner up and, without even thinking, I said "What the #### is that?" when the room service person lifted the cloche to expose a massive wedge of a head of lettuce drizzled with Caesar dressing.

I love a good Caesar salad as well. I think that that wedge is almost always a blue cheese dressing? It's fantastic and now I wish I had one...

It GMG that it's late August and there are still severe thunderstorm warnings going out. This #### is supposed to happen in June. Now I have to figure out how to get to the things I want to get to, without risking my car getting hailed on.

Speaking of, I’m about to sign a lease on a garage I can’t afford just to get the cars out of the weather. Lame.

According to this article:
https://globalnews.ca/news/4158522/t...afety-alberta/
You're more likely to have Thunderstorms in southern Alberta in August than June. July has the most.

My neighbour who puts his green, blue and black bins in front of my fence along with mine. It looks like I’ve got 6 carts to be picked up. Guess how many times Ive been left with a full bin and a note. I don’t have a garage to store my bins so I leave them in front of my fence in the back as many others do. He has a garage he could store his bins be he just adds them to my fence though.
Plus he has an alarm with an audible chirp that he lets go all day and night. I’ve listened to chirp chirp chirp for the last 2 months 24 hours a day but so do they so I don’t understand it.
Oh and this annoys the heck out of me because I or a guest sometimes have to park in the back because all the street parking is gone. So either I have to rearrange his bins or I park down the block. And well I’d like my bins picked up with regularity you know.

Put your bins where you think his bins should go. If he complains, just go the "I'll put my bins wherever I like, thanks" route, then laugh like a supervillain.

Oh I have numerous times. He is a taxi driver and he leaves at 4:30 am so he just moves them back to my fence when he leaves in the am.

Seeing police officers do this at a higher and higher frequency really grinds my gears
And then realizing that if it weren't for mobile devices capturing these incidents on occasion when someone happens to be around, that the thin blue line would protect these losers and they'd get off unpunished further grinds my gears

Hammer a bunch of stakes in the ground so there’s only enough clear area left for your bins. Put his in front of his overhead door. Film his reaction.
Hopefully he gets the hint and then you can remove the stakes and open up the parking space.

I cant imagine what he'd have done that they consider to have warranted that kind of response.

It really does GMG to think about all the unfortunate people in the 70’s,80’s,90’s who suffered from this kind of brutality, with no hope of proving and no one believing their story.

Mm true.
There are people that see the forest from the trees who have a fairly high bar for what they allow to bother them, and then there are people wandering in the bush getting offended by the trees for existing.
Something that's super freeing is just letting people live their lives even if its not how you would do it and recognizing that a lot of it just isn't your business at the end of the day unless it's taking place in your home or family.
Sure it's always tempting to go to that place where you begin to judge them, though the process of judging when you think about it is you putting them a notch below you in your mind, and while it makes for a good justified sounding rant or joke, at the end of the day you just feel judgmental and that actually doesn't feel very good. And that usually why people feel compelled to share it - they want to be validated for their negative feelings toward a person or situation.
It's amazing how many people have a hard time stomaching the fact that nobody is going to think and act exactly as they do, and most of the time they have no control over that. A lot of people dwell on it and let it consume them and develop these negative fixations, maybe hoping that enough judgmental or disapproving energy sent in someone's direction will make them change. It doesn't, and it just drags you down more than them.
This is why with a lot of minor things I try to catch it early and drop that #### and focus on my own stuff instead. Way better use of mental focus.
I've met plenty of those approachable people that make nearly all their conversations around judging people they work or interact with daily and its just not a good look or way to live. You just know that can easily come back to bite them eventually, and that if you spend time with them they'd eventually rip on you outside of your knowledge too.
Sure.. some things are worth venting about, but personally I prefer being around people that lean towards discussing ideas and interests more than other people (in a predominantly negative way).

Not condoning the cops on this one bit. Three large officers should be able to cuff and subdue an assailant without resorting to this kind of crap.
This reporter says the guy slammed one of the officers head first so hard into the ground that he just about lost consciousness and had a concussion. Prior he threatened to slice a woman's face off with his knife and spat in the face of an employee at the town offices.
I'd say the guy is lucky he wasn't shot dead.
