So what are they?
I think they have some high end skill for sure.
But when you think about "how they are going to win" the answer isn't clear.

I think too many of their top line players are too passive. You can have some of those but I would suggest overall Tkachuk, Backlund, and Gio are the only ones in the core that really have a lot of sandpiper. Ferland does but still isn't consistent enough with it (though I have zero complaints about him overall)
If Sam can continue to find his game, he is another who certainly has grit.

And for those saying the team is timid because of the coach, I don't agree. Some of these guys (Monny, Hamilton, etc) just don't have that in them.

I would be in favor of moving out a piece like Brodie or even Hamilton to bring in a core player with more grit.
We should be a team that makes you pay every time with our transition game. We should be a team who's D is all over the ice jumping into plays and creating offense.

Our main strength should be offense from the back end and while we may not have the heaviest grittiest team we also are not slow or small.

I think we have a great mix of skill, speed and grit. This roster is underperforming and I believe it comes straight from the system.

EVERYONE IS ALWAYS STANDING STILL. It infuriates me to see how many players are flat footed all game. Wingers waiting for passes, defenseman after they make a pass in the neutral zone. The whole ####ing PP. Defense on the breakout waiting for Smith to pass it to them.

I'm not sure how anyone can defend GGs systems at this point. Clearly not built for this team as there have been very few games where they looked dominant.

GG is fine. I have no problem with him for the most part. I couldn’t care less if he continues on to coach the Flames. It’s all the coaching experts around here that amaze me. Everyone has a different complaint it seems like. Blows me away the vitriol that comes from adults on a message board.

Ruff or Sutter would make me happy. Just a big no thanks to Tippett

Lol, so much more mature to be a casual fan of a bunch of other grown men chasing a rubber disc around. Your opinion essentially embodies how I feel GG coaches; no real strong feelings one way or another, but you're sure you're right and won't waver despite overwhelming evidence.

I'm a pretty patient guy and I've been a supporter of "waiting to see if GG's system clicks," but I'm ready for a change now. It may be nostalgia, but I miss the Sutter brand of hockey. He seemed to get the best out of players. He just didn't make a good GM.

Treliving and Sutter sounds really good!

GG totally unwilling to adapt and make changes. Why won't he pull his head out of the sand and quit being so stubborn? Time for him and his coaching staff to walk the plank.

We’ll see if Treliving can get past his personal pride and admit his mistake. The season is slipping away and he needs to make a move. Pushing all in on the players of his liking it means the coaching staff have to go. #### can the whole bunch and move on, or it’s Treliving that should be sacked when this team misses the playoffs. This is his baby, and he needs to be ultimately held accountable if he can’t make the tough decisions and accept his own mistakes.

Yup I agree. Might be nostalgia, might be the fact that I'm starved for some intensity, but Sutter sounds good right now

Flames are going to have to open their wallets if they think Sutter is going to come back to this mess.

What does it cost to hire a 2 time cup winning coach I wonder if Babcock is making 6 million and mclellan is making 4.

3 playoff games recoups that cost. We're on our way to missing them at this point.
