Oh and on the good news front, Devon Travis has started his rehab assignments, it's only A-Advanced ball down in Dunedin but he's 5-14 with a walk through 4 games.

Bautista BABIP = .243
Tulo BABIP = .213
Encarnation BABIP = .273
Those are all below MLB average (obscenely so in the case of Tulo) and mostly outside the batters control... they can't make the fielders go where the ball isn't. The only one I'm concerned about is EE since he's walking significantly less then he used to and K'ing more. And I don't think anyone ought to lose their job over what basically amounts to a bad turn from the luck dragon.

We were passed bad luck two weeks ago. We are getting into "It is, what it is" territory. There's not a sign that this is simply bad luck anymore.

@BNightenagle:
Josh Donaldson, the #BlueJays reigning AL MVP, was fined $1,000 for his role in the brawl, but no suspension
@ChrisCotillo:
Sources: Jose Bautista suspended 1 game for his role in Sunday's brawl.

They need to give the leadoff spot to Saunders for the time being and leave it well enough alone for the time being. Pillar isn't a leadoff hitter, he just isn't comfortable there for whatever reason.
I get that they're going for the lefty/righty matchups but Saunders is doing better against both then Pillar and at least draws the occasional walk.
Donaldson, Bautista, EE, Tulo all swing right hand, you're making bullpen strategy too easy by tossing Pillar out ahead of them.
Furthermore as leadoff hitters this season
Pillar .198 .231 .291
Saunders .274 .366 .452
Who do you want right ahead of your big hitters? That's a extra 2 guys on base for your big guns every 3 games on average.
Saunders
Donaldson
Bausista
EE
Smoak
Tulo
Martin
Pillar
Goins/Barney
Martin and Pillar could be swapped but other then that, that should be the every day lineup for the Jays.

MLB dropped the ball with the suspensions. Odor should have got more games, Bush should have got a few games, and Banister should have got a few games as well.
I guess they borrowed the NHL wheel of justice.

oh and it's probably time to hand over the reigns at second to Barney and let him run with it, as much as I like Goins on D the black hole at bat is killing the lineup. If he gets much worse we might be better off DHing for him and letting the pitchers take some hacks.(yes i know we can't)

How does Bush get nothing?
The 8 games seems pretty low to me as well, but I almost always feel pro leagues are way too lenient with their suspensions, which is probably why nothing ever changes.

Yes, there are plenty of statistical signs. You can try and blow them off in exchange for an arbitrary end point (the end of April) where bad luck magically disappears, but that doesn't mean you're right.

Wow those suspensions are unjust.
Odor - okay, but should have been more.
Bautista - why is he suspended? for a hard slide? that happens every other game.
Bush - nothing? is this for real? how does chavez get 3 and bush 0??
Also something should have been handed out to Banister.

I couldn't agree more Dan. To me Goins is the perfect bench middle infielder. Elite defense, can play shortstop and second base and can be defensive insurance near the end of a close game. But his bat will and will likely never be MLB level. It's too bad because from what I gather he seems like a well liked guy and had worked hard to get to the big leagues.

I didn't say fandom was logical.
If public enemy #1 gets punched in any sport, the fans will treat the puncher as a hero.

I think the suspensions are reasonable, though the fines are laughable.
Bush and Banister don't get anything because there wasn't a warning in place at the time, Chavez does because he did it specifically after being warned.
