Just turn off data roaming in network settings and you're safe. You can go the extra step and get Rogers do disable your number from any data transfers, but it's not necessary

You can just use tap water with a tiny bit of dish soap, and use a credit card to squeegie out the excess. Just make sure the screen is clean. Put the solution in saucer, dip the film in it, shake it so it is just barely damp on the back, and apply it. You can slide it around until it is perfectly in position, then squeegie it with a credit card in one firm fast swoop. You can even take it off and reposition it using this technique. I used to deal with 3M film and tinting on cars at a high end shop, and at that time we just used dish soap and water.

Hey guys, I was doing some research into what network I want to go with when my contract expires and I get a new iPhone. Since most of you know all major providers have the iPhone (Rogers, Fido, Telus, Bell) so heres a list of plans for just a regular user who doesnt want to pay more then 75 bucks a month:

Rogers - $65
Minutes: 250 or 150 for $60
Evenings and Weekends (9PM): Unlimited
Data: 1 GB
Bonus Texts: 75
Visual Voicemail: included
Bonus: my5

Fido - $65
Minutes: 350
Evenings and Weekends (7PM): Unlimited
includes:
-unlimited texts
-unlimited video/picture messages
Data: 1 GB
Visual Voicemail: included

Bell - $60
Minutes: 300
Evenings and Weekends (9PM): Unlimited
Data: 1GB
Visual Voicemail: included
Bonus: fab5

Telus - $65
Minutes: 250
Evenings and Weekends (9PM): Unlimited
Bonus: 5 Numbers unlimited talk/text
Data: 1GB
Visual Voicemail: included

* none of these include callerID which is an extra fee I believe.
* the dollar figure per month does not include system access fee, 911 fee, and all that other garbage they make you pay for.
* This is only for the iPhone 3G NOT the 3G3 which might have different plans maybe?
* you have to still pay the $99 on a 3-year deal and the $35 set up fee

I think that's 250 min and 500 megs data, unless you see something else on the fido site,

It shocks me that call display is not a standard feature

yea it is something different. Its really weird though:

there the 65 dollar "iPhone plan" which only included 500 megs

but when you go to the plans+data section there is one with 1GB for the exact same price.

What's more shocking is they are going to charge $15 for call display. Terrible rates. Looks as though when i renew my contract, I'm going to have to pay more to get less.

Maybe I'm the last person to know this, I don't know. But it's helped me out a ton figuring this out.

My password has been changed on a system where business email is copied to my iPhone and now I apparently need to change it on my iPhone also. Where do I do that? It's set up to only copy email to my iPhone when my office Outlook is closed.

I'm just going to assume it's related, because my battery life has been atrocious since adding the gmail push feature. It's so bad that I may remove that ability despite how nice it is.

I'm trying to connect to the Net with my iPhone through a password protected wifi. I thought it would ask me for the password and then connect me but it's just going to 3G. How do I manually connect to this wifi network?

Just go to settings > wifi if you don't see your network there, click other and type the network name and pick the secruity setting and you will be prompted to enter your password.

I believe any push apps require that your iPhone constantly keep a network connection live. With Fetch, your 3G & Wifi are put into standby until it hits your fetch interval (or if you manually activate the network, by browsing or something).

Anybody having a lot of "call failed" occurences lately? My wife and I couldn't even have a conversation that lasted more than 20 seconds yesterday on the drive home because our phones kept dropping the calls and saying failed.

It's not quite so basic. In effect, that's what is going on, but that's not the whole story.

Yes, if you mean on Rogers, I have. It's beginning to pi$$ me off too. Actually...I'm really starting to become aware that, as a phone, iphone sucks. It is though despite that, the coolest, handiest liitle gadget I've ever had. Just the phone and phone service bites.

Could it be that the phone service in your area bites? I've never had a dropped call... never had a problem hearing anyone... and nobody has ever had a problem hearing me.

-=-=-=-=-

I have a recurring problem. When I open Safari and try to go to any web site... let's say yahoo.com... I get the spinning wheel that just spins forever and then I get "Cannot connect to server". Then I try to go to yahoo again, and it loads just fine. So what I've learned to do is go to yahoo.com, wait for the spinning wheel, immediately cancel the loading of the page and then reload yahoo. Works perfectly fine and saves me 15 seconds of spinning wheel going nowhere. But I wish I didn't have to do that each time.

i have been noticing a lot of dropped calls and call failed. But its just at night so maybe its because everyone is calling (usually between 5 and 530). My girlfriend and I could get two minute conversations in and then call would fail.
