Jake is frustrating, as he won’t go down field as he’s very tentative. What I’ve noticed is when he goes to throw on the run, he fades his body away on his back foot and then throws. So instead of stepping into his throw, he always (Always!) fades off his back foot which causes floaters. It’s most likely part of leaning away from a big hit when he’s throwing the ball as many QB’s get pasted as soon as they release the ball - to which his body fades to ‘take’ the hit without getting crunched… even when he’s not going to get crunched. It’s an element of protecting your body which is very wise, yet the way he does it makes him very ineffective.

So you get a tie, instead of a win. Because his psyche is shattered and it shows in his throwing motion. Throwing off his back foot fading away. He’s not the QB of the future - so in some ways you want games to continually show he is the not the guy (so that Dave doesn’t keep his car hitched to his wagon) yet you want the team to win. He does give them the better chance to win, but in the end he got us a tie… not much better than our rookie Bonner but a point is a point. Bonner does need more time maturing - next year will be his year to take a serious step forward. Will we ever see Schiltz though? He could be the guy moving forward / if somehow the team clicks with him… looks like we will never get a chance the to see what we may have.

Ok, I'm going to throw my 2 cents here. I've been coaching for 15 years ranging in player ages from 13 to 18. For the past lets say 9 years of that I've worked as an offensive Coordinator and a dedicated Quarter backs coach. Your right, we USED to coach Qb's to throw from what we call the cylinder in the pocket, what that means is that the QB protends that they're in a big garbage can, and the cylinder concept forces them to step through the throw, with their front foot acting as their site, and explode through the hips which forces and over the shoulder compact throw, and then the throwing hand goes towards the opposite hip. On the run we taught then to take the extra launch step off of the back foor and drive the throw through their sight foot(front) with an over the shoulder throw.

About 3 or so years ago, when I went to QB coaching clinics, and when I went to work at QB camps, and even as I reviewed QB Position training videos, that all changed, and mostly its due to Patrick Mahommes and what he does.

Now instead the focus is on the release and throwing anywhere, and its a quick release. The throwing action has less to do with the step through, and the hip movement, and the over head through has gone to a wider throw that can resolve into a side arm throw when needed.

It also allows for a QB to throw across his body into the middle of the field from the side lines. To me, if your QB doesn't have an absolute gun of an arm, it takes even more off of the delivery. So that's why we talk about a lot of QB's in the modern era being noodle armed, its because of the throwing technique that they are being taught now, and a pro QB like Maier is no exception.

The problem with teaching this Mahommes style or gambler fast release style, there aren't alot of QB's that actually have the physical and improvisational ability of Mahommes.

In the old days, I would tell the QB's not to throw across their bodies across the field. Now that roll out, throw back into the middle of the field is big.

I'd tell QB's on the front side role to take one step up the field off of their back foot to deliver the throw, that's not encouraged now.

On the back side throw, on the role with the ball in the down field hand, we used to teach the QB's to flip their hip either through a plant or a bunny hop. Now that throw is all bout twisting your upper body down the field and throw it side arm.

I had a QB a couple of years ago, and he was strong willed, and his QB coach had taught him basically the Patrick method, and fine it worked for him on the short throws, but on his down field shots it took forever for the ball to get where it was going.

But there's a reason why the passing game in the NFL and CFL is suffering a bit, its because every QB coach thinks hey can make the next PM.

Good game between Hamilton and Toronto. Meanwhile, Tommy Stevens atones for his fumble last week with a huge TD scamper.

Seeing how far attendance in Calgary has plummeted is very concerning and sad. I remember in the 00s the riders came to town.... it was a big time game with a lot of animosity and great atmosphere.

The CFL in Calgary is looking dead

It's 6 C and poured all day. An adjustment from the weather all summer, and the next week is good weather.
And most of the Saskies can't get into town from Friday night.

And a team not in the playoffs or likely to be...all of this contributes to poor attendance but the doomsday CFL is dead in Calgary" is quite melodramatic.

Team has been bad and boring for two consecutive years. Add in a cool night and it's easy to understand why there are so many empty seats.

2nd and 18 and we throw for 5 yards from deep in our zone. The playcalling on both sides of the ball for the Stampeders absolutely ####ing sucks!!! Why did we sign Chandler Worthy if we're never gonna play him?

Tear it down, bring in someone new, let Huff stay as an advisor if he wants or ride into to the sunset. Everybody else with a legit coaching job needs to go.

(Im fine with Lewis staying as the receivers coach though)

Schiltz time 2nd half?

Hopefully. We’ve proved Jake is Jake - never going to change. Be bold Dave and COACH!! Make the team decision, not the singular player decision.

70 yards rushing in the first half and 69 came on the Steven's TD run. Laughable!!!
