What was with Negan in the vision? No way in hell he would be living in the community with Rick and Co.

One of the few interesting moments of an awful episode IMO.

It was an idealized vision of the future through Carl's eyes. Carl is one of the few from Alexandria that has - in any way - bonded with Negan. If he is going to go full optimist then it seems to fit.
Also, when Rick is collapsed by the tree at the end of the episode lamenting over mercy he looks wounded. Or is that just blood from the battle and burying Carl?

Steven Ogg is a fantastic actor. Every scene he's in is 100x better.

The zombie meat grinder was one of the best things they've done in years.
There was no explanation as to why the garbage people spoke the way they did. I'm glad that appears to be over though.

Finally a decent episode! That was pretty damn good. Steven Ogg was awesome, and I enjoyed the conversation between Rick and Negan.
And I agree, the zombie meat grinder was fun.

I thought she explained it, that she was trying to create a new society.
What is interesting though is the reference to the helipad. Why would there be one at a landfill? Unless the landfill was just a cover for something else before the zombie apocalypse started.

That was a pretty good episode. The pacing was decent and the jumping back and forth in time worked. The acting was fine and it teased a couple of questions about the helipad and solar panels.
Unlike many previous episodes, I actually watched the whole thing without doing something else at the same time.

I was hoping for the trash leader to jump into the grinder after. Worst storyline ever. Are they on the quadruple cross now?? idiotic

Just finished watching the last episode. Negan and Simon make every episode they're in. I am pretty sure they have clauses in their contracts that they will refuse to participate in any scene where the writing sucks.
Anyway, I am afraid of seeing un-hinged Rick again. Those episodes after Lori died were, umm, bizarre.

Really cool how this abandoned garbage dump would somehow have the power source to run a trash compactor which I imagine is pulling in the neighborhood of 100 Amps or more.

I'm a little worried Simon may get killed off by Negan because he took out the garbage people. This show can't afford to kill off the characters that you actually want to watch. Getting rid of Carl and the Garbage people was a good start. I'm at the point where they could kill off everyone except Rick, Daryl, Negan, and Simon and bring in a supporting new cast.

Energy use is something that really isn't covered in the show. You never see them talking about gasoline; which would be in finite supply and would have stared to degrade by now. Then you have Carol baking cookies in a conventional oven. Even if that was a gas oven, there would be a limited supply of gas.
I would actually say that the dump is a logical place for them to have the resources to be able to have enough power to run that thing. Especially if what they alluded to is correct, that the dump is actually a cover for something bigger- something that would have a helipad.

Can we all agree Simon is the most engaging character currently on the show?
I would love to see an hr long back story on him.
I am interested to see how it goes when Negan figures out or is told that Simon massacred the Garbage Pail Kids.

I guess there are two sides there. There is the fact that nobody is really maintaining any the infrastructure, but also the resources are not being depleted as much, given that most of the population is dead and not using any of it. Not sure how long one of those huge propane / natural gas tanks you see in rural areas would last.

Actually when Rick called him on the walkie i thought he was going to tell him then. "Why did you take all the trash out?!!"
Oh and Simon is going to be at the Calgary Expo this year!
