Wimbledon junior champ who's ranked in the 300s will open a lot of doors. Hope he takes advantage with a win or 2.

Sucks for the fans as this games is really going down the toilet bowl in a hurry.

rain all day but got some night action in in Washington
Pospisil just lost to Sugita 16 62 76 (that's just awful)
Wozniak lost 62 62 (expected)
Abanda in action right now.

Canada drew Chile for their Davis Cup playoff in September. It looks like they'll be playing in Halifax:

Still Pospisil and Nestor in doubles but can Pospisil be trusted in singles? He looks done, his back won't hold up for 3 days.
If it were in Chile on clay I'd definitely pick Diez. Dancevic again? ugh. he can't go 5 sets anymore. Maybe if Shapovalov goes on a summer run we can pick him.

I think Raonic will make himself available, I think it was a tough decision for him to forego the Rio Olympics and I believe he wants to help get Canada back into the Davis Cup World Group. Nestor and Pospisil in doubles should be good for a win and I agree with Shapovalov, let's see what the kid can do on home soil.

Milos said yesterday on Sportsnet 590 he started the year with six high-profile events in mind: four Grand Slams, Olympics and Davis Cup. He definitely said it was a painful decision to slide the Olympics out of his initial group of six, but the cons out weighed the pros. He added, Davis Cup remains one of his priorities.
I'll third the comment on Shapovalov. It's time to move on from Dancevic. Bring him along as a hitting partner, but I think with Shapovalov blossoming, this is a great time to let him experience the Davis Cup at home.

How quickly we forget Filip Peliwo? the last Canadian Wimbledon boys winner. Lets not get ahead of ourselves? Filip made the finals of every major in 2012 and won 2.

Peliwo is still around and only 22. But he can't stay healthy. He's not the biggest guy and always has hip problems. He's also based in Asia and plays many Asian futures and challengers which I always thought was weird.

Always think about going when the men are in Toronto but would hate to spend all kinds of money on tickets just to have all the big names pull out. Seems to be a frequent occurrence with the Rogers Cup.
