I don't get it. How come everytime a manager/coach or players started arguing with the umpire they are automatically tossed out? I noticed this even when the umpire makes a bad call. Is this an ego trip or just too much power by the umpire? Was the argument really full of swearing, name calling and just yelling or just asking for explanation?
Anyways, i've only seen the news on the Jays-Royals game and from what I've seen I thought the umpire totally lost the game. Kansas City Royals' pitchers have a reputation of intentionally hitting the batter. When Donaldson got hit the first time, it was good he warned both teams but he didn't follow through his warning when Volquez threw the ball close to Donaldson's head. Then later on another batter got hit but nothing was done. Really dumb to warn teams and not follow through. No wonder we see a lot of bench brawl(well not really bench brawl because there was no punch throw) in MLB.
I spend most of my time in Houston and have turned into an Astros fan (who look really good this year BTW). so admittedly don't follow the Jays that closely.
But was this really the right time to go all in? Still 7 games back in the loss column for the division which is a lot to make up beginning in August. The wild card is a total crapshoot with so many teams in the chase, and then the WC game itself.
I guess it comes down to two things:
The team is desperate to win after so many years of no playoffs.
Their run differential is excellent so maybe management believed they were already better than their record indicated.
Yeah, the run differential says they are a better team than their record
Their offence is historically good.
The core is there, with Donaldson, Bautista, EE
Buerle an Dickey are only here for this season I believe
Bottom line is that this was an otherwise really good team that blatantly lacked a true #1. By adding Price and bolstering the bullpen, the Jays have to be considered as good as any team in the American League.
Is it too late to catch the Yankees? Probably. But with wildcards, who really cares? Just get in.
Plus if you get into the one game showdown - Price is one of the guys you'd want taking the bump in all of baseball. That's why his acquisition is important.

Dickey has a team option that I would expect to be picked up, even if they are able to re-sign Price which I am trying to be realistic about but if ever there was a guy I wanted them to open the vault for ... and with Buehrle's money coming off the books ...
As for the Yankees, man they're playing good but the Jays do have 13 games left against them ... I know it's not probable but it's possible.
Right now I think consistently winning 2 out of every 3 is what the Jays need to do. If they were to go 20-10 in their next 30 they are easily in the Wild Card game, and possible within a couple games of the Yankees. But they need a sustained run to really push them past the break even mark.
