Um, did you read the link? A guy with mental illness pepper sprayed some people in a theater and was shot 12 times by police. So yeah, someone was shot in a theater, but it wasn't a mass shooting.
An awful lot of people have similar histories. Should we lock them all up?
No, obviously not. But to have someone committed twice within a year, 2 times, and is known to not be able to care for themselves, you'd think there were some red flags that the person should be getting cared for on a long term basis, not just for a couple months at a time.
And I don't really consider keeping someone who needs help caring for themselves in a facility built to care for those people as "locking them up". It's not supposed to be about punishing them for mental illness, it's supposed to be about making sure they are being cared for properly. If that proper care includes them needing to be under surveillance of mental health professionals, then yes.
How long until the ushers in American movie theaters are armed, and their back up is the popcorn maker who has a high capacity uzi under the counter?
"The fans are standing up to them. The security guards are standing up to them. The peanut vendors are standing up to them! And by golly if I could get down there I'd be standing up to them!"

Interesting... the confederate flag banning witch-hunt folks should have a listen:
PS: Listening to CGP Grey makes you a smarter person.
Except the modern confederate flag was brought back by the Dixie political party who tried to maintain racial divids and tried to keep lynching Black people legal.
Although I wholeheartedly agree with the opening line:

To say that gun control is a complex topic in American culture is a massive understatement, but there’s one point we can probably all agree on: Fatal accidents involving firearms are heartbreaking tragedies and any measure we can take to try to reduce or eliminate them is something we as a society need to consider.
Study confirms the general feeling that the US has the most mass shootings world wide. Despite only having 5% of the population, over a third of mass shootings happen in the US
Quote:
New analysis has shown that although the U.S. only makes up 5 percent of the global population, the country has seen 31 percent of global public mass shootings between 1966 and 2012. The research, which is set to be presented at the 110th Annual Meeting of the American Sociological Association (ASA), was based on data from the New York City Police Department's 2012 active shooter report, the FBI's 2014 active shooter report, and multiple international sources.
The report claims to be the first of its kind to quantify all reported mass public shootings which have resulted in the deaths of at least four people. However, gang related crime, drive-by shootings, hostage situations and robberies have not been taken into consideration.

A release from the Boston Police Department says they were notified of the social media threats on Thursday and were able to stop the two suspects as they attempted to enter the event a few hours later. The men were not arrested at that time.
Detectives discovered that the two men had driven from Iowa with several guns in their vehicle that they did not have licenses for.
After obtaining a search warrant for the vehicle, police found a 12-gauge shotgun, an AR-15, several hundred rounds of ammunition and a hunting knife.

There is an obvious solution. Pokemon players need more guns.
