Cruise control schedule from here on out. Great record for Broncos after how difficult the first eight weeks were.

Peyton Manning has had 4-game stretch that no QB in NFL history has ever matched: 75.4%, 1289 yds, 12 TD, 1 INT, 127.9 rtg.

Eskin is legit. It's too bad that Vick declined so quickly because he was so fun to watch in 2010. I think this may end up being a bad decision as well. Foles is going to get crushed behind that offensive line, and New Orleans on a Monday night isn't exactly the friendliest environment to be making your first start in.

its a friendly environment in that the Saints defense is among the worst in recent memory... better to start on the road and not get abused by the crazy home fans

It will be hard for Eagles fans to throw snowballs at Foles in the Superdome. But I think someone there will manage to do it.

This is going to be a blood bath in Arizona. The Cardinals offense is so bad. No way they get over 5 first downs tonight

FG?
Why do coaches do chickenbleep stuff like this. I guess not having the shutout on the record makes Wisenhunt feel better.
It is much worse when coaches of a 1-6 or 4-8 team does it but still this Cardinals team needs a boost (and TD) to get back in the game and the FG although theoretically needed on the scoreboard does basically nothing at this point.

That is such a brutal call. That is like bunting in baseball when down by 7 runs.

Well maybe they figured it was the only way their QB wouldn't get killed on an offensive play.

Teams should go for it more on 4th, it's really silly with how afraid some teams are to do it. Much like bunting in baseball. The worst thing that happened to more teams doing it was the Pats/Colts 4th and 2, when all the "old timers" came out and talked down the Hoodie for doing it. Broncos and Pats, strong offensive teams should go for it more then they punt.

The other thing there was that the Pats were up by 4 points. You have a condensed field and have to keep the other team out of the end zone. I think knowing that you have 30 yards of field to defend and can't allow a TD isn't that much different than defending 70. That much field teams play prevent, and open themselves up to big plays.
Truthfully, to start OT....I'd go with. Surprise on side kick, and up 4 points late in a game I'd do the same thing.

Interesting poll on NFL.com, which of the 4 current Wild Card teams is most likely to not end up in the playoffs?
Vikings, Packers, Dolphins, or Colts. I think it's the Colts as the Steelers should be able to end up with a better record. But 9 wins will get you a WC spot in the AFC, and the Colts might pull it off. They still have Buffalo, Tennessee, and Miami at home, plus road games against the two worst teams in football in KC and Jacksonville.
Miami has three tough games to go with two vs. new England, and at the 49'ers. They also have two with the Bills, and the Seahawks to go. So really this game in Indy is huge for these two teams.
I look at Pittsburgh, and they're remaining schedule is pretty nice. I really can't see them losing more than 2 of those games and three tops. Baltimore is banged up, and I think they could lose the Division. But I think they still win 4 of their remaining 9 which gets them a Wild Card spot.
The Texans, Patriots, and Bronco's will run away with their Divisions, and really it could be a 3 way fight for that 2nd seed.
In the NFC, it's a lot of the same. Atlanta, and San Fran pretty much have their Divisions. The Giants schedule gets rough, but I still think they can go 4-4 so that wins them the East. The North is the only Division to be contested, but really Chicago and Green Bay are both playoff bound. Question is, can Minnesota hold off the group of Seattle, Arizona, Philly, Dallas, Detroit, and Tampa who are all 3-4 or 4-4? I think the Vikes have three losses left against GB/Chi. So let's say at best they can go 4-4....is any of Phi, Dal, Det going to win 6 of their last 9? Seattle does have 5 home games left, so maybe they can get to 9 wins and knock out Minnesota.

I think it is Minnesota. They have had a lot go right for them to be where they are and I am not sure they can continue with that passing offense and hoping that Harvin plays out of his mind. Plus (and it may be the homer in me) tough to see 3 teams out of one division where the other team isn't a complete walkover.
What is interesting (and probably not surprising watching what has happened over the past few years) is that 3 of the teams are playing last place schedules.
I understand the NFL's scheduling plan but it does seem that every year at least one team takes advantage of that last place schedule to make the play-offs. I haven't seen any numbers on the success of those teams once they make the play-offs but I can't imagine it is that great.

Really though, how do you fix it? At least this year I think the 8 division winners will all be legitimate playoff teams. Each Conference has one good Wild Card team, and than it's a glut of teams with 3-4 wins right now, and I can't say I see anyone in that pack breaking out of mediocrity.
So if the Colts get in at 9-7....did they really deny a good 8-8 team from making the playoffs?
With the three last place teams holding wild cards, there is the who they've played factor so far. The Colts have only played one tough opponent so far, other than the comeback vs. Green Bay. Miami's toughest games are still on their schedule, and the Vikings haven't had to travel much, or face any good teams on the road. In time I think only one of these three will survive. But no one else behind them has shown to be that good either.
