Doan must be the only person in Phoenix more optimistic than Bouw N Arrow.

Great news for Phoenix if they can close this deal. Now, the elephant in the room that no one is talking about... how do you put butts in the seats consistently?
Would suck to have a new owner and still no one goes to the games. Quebec City would be much, much healthier a location.

Well, there's only one more Monday before the lockout.
Doan has said he'll sign somewhere before the 15th, so it's now or never to get this thing finalized.

Until they can charge higher ticket prices, it won't matter much if the arena is full.

It should be self-evident that higher demand means higher prices.

The main question, to me, is if it was this much of a battle to come up with the purchase money, what happens with next years $20 million dollar loss. Then the next years, and the next.

I don't know if the city signing off on it that soon is a slam dunk. I guess we'll see.

If it isn't done by the 15th I guarantee Doan won't sign with somebody else. He played his cards to squeeze the best deal out of the Yotes by acting like he could sign somewhere else when there is no way he was going anywhere. Leave behind his beloved horse ranch and golfing every day? Ya right.

Very shortsighted thinking. Filling the arena, even at lower prices, is a huge deal. It not only increases revenues in the other aspects of your operation (parking, concessions etc.) it exposes more eyes to the product and cultivates a stronger base. I'm consistently blown away by how many people take a view of these issues as if this is an industry in which short term results are all that matter.

That was my point - there is a lot of work to do. Probably too much.

A lockout (especially for the whole season) will be the end of the Coyotes. They'd finally started generating some legitimate fan interest and attendance by having a good winning season and a decent playoff run. That's what puts butts in the seats in America. But that goodwill will be forgotten with another lockout and it's back to square one.

Lisa Halverstadt @LisaHalverstadt
Skeete said he thinks it’s risky to sign current version of #Coyotes deal given sales-tax concerns but he wouldn’t discuss possible changes.
Skeete: “At this point, I cannot sign this (#Coyotes) agreement. I told (Jamison) that. I told the council that. We need to come to come to a different conclusion. It would be irresponsible of me to do that.”
http://jamisonentertainmentgroup.com/
"There were a lot of political things that came as a part of this that had to be overcome. It took a long time to put a deal together but now we're at the point where I'm prepared to go forward and sign the deal with the city," Jamison said. "That's the next thing that needs to be settled and then we can move forward."

That doesn't make any sense at all. It seems you've decided that this is a project that must turn into the Leafs in a period of 1 year or else it's doomed to failure. There's no reason this franchise can't operate with lower ticket prices and higher ticket sales in the short term in order to facilitate long term growth. The only issue there is the willingness of the operator to pursue that model and make a long term commitment. If that's Jamison's plan, and he has the finances to push through the short term, I don't see the issue.

They've had 16 years to get it together, this isn't some new team that requires time to endear itself to the community.
Jamison doesn't have the finances, that's why he has to be subsidized by the CoG. It looks like the CoG is being forced to back out it's deal, so this should be the end of it.
