I didn't watch Monahan much in MTL, but his defensive positioning was my biggest issue with his game when he was playing for the Flames.

I doubt Monahan returns a first, it's kinda irrelevant to the Flames though...he was a UFA signing there, he wouldn't have returned to Calgary at that bargain rate IMO

Almost certain Tanev returns more

I doubt Monahan gets a first, but great if he does. Lindholm should get more.
Nick Foligno got more than a first.

The Rangers Filip Chytil back on the ice after ~3 months out due to concussion. Reports say he went down in a non-contact practice for several minutes and likely a set back from the initial head injury. There is a human side and hockey side. The hockey side means the Rangers might be looking for a center.

When Chytil comes back that would be a terrifying forward core to go up against
Zib
Trochek
Lindholm
Chytil.
Mix and match handedness, move guys to the wing.

Yeah if Chytil had a set back in a non-contact practice then he's going to be out a while longer and I think that opens up the Rangers as maybe one of the front runners for Lindholm.

Chytil makes $4.4M, Lindholm makes $4.8M and becomes a pretty easy player to fit in with retention for the Rangers without having to move a contract out.

I don't like hearing stuff like "Edwards told Conroy not to deal Zadorov in division" even if he gave in. Why the hell is an absentee oilman micromanaging to that degree? Is he picky about what kind of cheese they serve on burgers in the concessions too?

Imagine getting a 1st to take Monahan, and then getting another 1st to trade him away later on.

Why can't the Flames ever be on the right side of this?

The only way it gets worse if we trade a 1st to get him back…

Chytil is a piece that likely goes out to get a player like Lindholm.

Back to back concussions, yea I’d steer far clear of Chytil at this point.
One more could be the end of his career.

No one is trading for a player who's career could very well be over. He needs to seriously consider retiring. There is far more important things in life than hockey.

Lindholm should bring a good return. Right handed Centre, which plays strong 2 way game, who can win face offs, can play RW and very good at PK. Main thing is if he agree extension with the team traded to? At least he should bring 1st, a good prospect and conditional draft if he signs or that team got long run in the POs.

If MTL get 1st for Monahan, our 1st should be cancelled as it's not fair.

I wonder if Zach Parise joining the Avs means that they're no longer interested in Lindholm

His skating was probably the item I thought was most deficient.

Any GM who trades for Monahan has to consider the injury history……Is he or can he remain healthy enough to help in a long playoff run?

Also, the fact that Montreal has a history of pumping up players numbers by giving them way to many opportunities.

Yeah, if I was a GM trading for Monahan, the return would have conditions all over it based on games played, how far they make it in the playoffs, and/or production. There is no way I'd give up a 1st without some kind of guarantee.
