So they can say they'll allow new projects but then don't allow anywhere to build said projects. All part of the plan.

We've got some of the best wind potential in the world, yet our province chooses to leave it undeveloped. But if you say the same thing about oil Smith will yell at the top of her lungs how wrong that is. Go figure. Complete irrationality, but that's what happens when you elect idealogues.

Don't know if they put this type of math into it, but if a 6ft tall person was standing on a non elevated position, a windmill approx. 230 ft tall would be below the horizon at 35 km distance.

35km is the exact distance one needs to place their head up their backside for any of this to make sense.
It amazes me how badly politicians have screwed up the electricity file in different provinces across Canada.

To me, this comes across as a petty attempt at retribution over the coal mines that were cancelled.

Close, but the real answer is that the oilsands operations are cleaning up the Earth of leaky tar. How could you be opposed to that?

I've seen that picture floating around, and I get the sentiment...but it's a pretty shallow one. Because let's not pretend that there aren't countless ugly mines around the world supporting the building of those relatively pretty turbines. That could easily be a cobalt mine, or copper, or whatever. The only reason we don't see those mines is because they are in Chile or Congo. We enjoy the outcomes, while the rest of the world does the labor.
I know they are ugly, but mining ain't going anywhere... no matter what energy source you champion. You're either mining for your oil, or your ore and minerals for your turbines or solar panels, or your uranium for your nuclear....take your pick. And the hard reality is that every mine we poo-poo from being built in Canada is going to built in another part of the world... most likely under much worse environmental and working standards. But either way, the dirty work happens somewhere.
There are no freebies... only tradeoffs.

I think you miss the point, though. This time it's the hypocrisy. That's all. I'm not really against either. You want energy? This is what it looks like.

Personally I think the turbines look cool. Solar farms, not so much from what I have seen so far.

My CFO has booked a three hour training session next week for Bill S-211 training. Says every company in the country has to do this training. Its an anti-slavery bill. Is that true? anyone else doing it? I'm not bitching, its just a big thing that I would have thought would have been in the news.

Indeed, maybe I did. Unfortunately I've seen this image makes the rounds regardless of the Alberta angle.

Dan Balaban President, CEO & Co-Founder of Greengate Power said this last night on the news (paraphrasing here):
There are lots of other places where investments in these projects will be made other than Alberta

Smith is being a petty moron and its so obvious.
Is 35 km possibly the height of a turbine and the curvature of the earth thing where you can no longer see them? That assumes an ounce of science was put into the decision which is probably asking too much.

The thing with that is, well, you want turbines on ridge tops, where it is windy, not in the lowest part of the valley.

For sure, we should bury all our cell towers next.
