The only time the Jays are watchable is when Scutaro, Hill, and Lind come up. Other then that it has become beyond painful.

But for the rest of this year, next to Overbay and Scutaro he is their best on base guy.

I think a below average on base guy like Hill who gets a lot of hits and has decent power should be down in the lineup hititng behind 2 or 3 guys who are good at getting on base. Right now Overbay, Bautista, Lind, and Scutaro are all a lot better on base guys than Hill is. Even a lineup like Scutaro, Overbay, Hill, Lind with Bautista hitting 9th would probably produce more runs.

So long as they actually sign the player.
Nah that's not true, Jays are just riding out the season with the players they have.... the holes will be filled this off-season.

There is no problem right now, Jays know the season is over they have known this for awhile now.... many of the young pitchers are on a pitch count they will be shut down pretty soon. Jays are going to call up 7 players this week...

As for your recommended line-up totally disagree... Scutaro (to bad he will leave this offseason) is a perfect lead-off hitter...

He gets on base allot and Hill is getting lots of hits. They are perfect 1 and 2 hitters.

Problem all season is Rios and Wells were suppose to be the 3rd and 4th hitters. Both had poor seasons... Rios is continuing to struggle with CWS as well big shock....

Meaning the Jays don't have a hitter in their line-up who can handle the 3rd or 4th spot... They have a bunch of 5th throught 9th guys...

Lind is a perfect 5th guy... in my opinion. He is too young to make him the 3rd or 4th guy...

Whats not true? I don't get your post at all.

Well until Hill becomes a more selective hitter, I'll disagree that he should be a #2 hitter. With a hitter like him the way he currently is you need to let him swing the bat and get his hits. Wouldn't it make sense to have a guy who gets lots of hits regularly hit behind two guys who have high on base #'s? Shouldn't it lead to more chances to drive in runs? To me a #2 guy should get on base often, and be a guy you don't mind asking to lay down a bunt or hit and run with. You shouldn't be regularly asking your better sluggers to do that type of thing. Hill is still pretty young though and I think he's professional enough that it's something he'll work on this offseason.

Scutaro this year...yeah, he's been everything you could want from a lead off hitter, let along a guy playing short stop and doing it for his price. The Jays don't have those ideal #3, 4 hitters like Pujols and Holliday, Utley and Howard, or Texiera and Rodriguez. Chances are they're not getting that type of hitter either let alone two of them.

As for age, lots of other young players are hitting in key spots in teams lineups. Lind has one of the better OPS ratings in the American League. I think he's like 26, and he's more or less played a good part of 3 years in the majors. Why shelter him and make him hit 5th? Similar with Hill it's not like he's a 22 year old guy, he's like 27 which I think is around the average age in Baseball right now. Why wouldn't a guy who has 30+ homeruns and is slugging 500 be a good #3-4 hitter? It's probably easier to find a good on base guy who can handle the bat and hit second than that ideal #3-4 slugger, and a lot cheaper money wise.

Personally the OBP thing and the 2nd slot is way over blown, he has had a great season.... I would be shocked if he does not win the gold glove this season. Yet folks are all facinated with his lack of walks... Go figure.

Yes Hill does not walk allot, but Hill is the MVP this season for the Jays from a position player without a question.

Like I said earlier the Jays perfer to have Hill in the 2nd slot not the 3rd or 4th.

As for Lind, what do you mean why shelter him? He has been an every day player for what 2 years? Good grief...

Have the Jays' had any problems signing their higher picks as of late? Just curious.

They did not sign three of their top five draft picks from June's draft.

But, a higher pick is always better.

One of those 3 picks has major arm issues and wouldn't have been signed either way. As for the other two, that's the owners being cheap. The difference to sign those two was only about 750K.

Well, they're keeping me watching today. 5 runs scored in the first inning (Barajas with a 3 run homer), and later Lind with his first grand slam in the majors!

Edit: Cecil is trying to single-handedly give up an 11 run lead. LOL.

I am not a huge fans of Cito's but that was a smart move bringing in Downs in the 7th.

Better to use your "best" guy when you need him rather than save him for the 9th when the bases are empty and the Rangers are up by 3 or 4 runs they scored off the other guy you brought in because he is the normal 7th inning guy.

Not sure if he did it strategically or because his other guys were all gassed and he didn't have much options but a good move that more managers should look at.

In regards to the article it would sure be nice to see a few more teams sneak into some sort of post season play in this league. I never get this time of year.....add another couple spots to the post season and you at least have a few more cities getting some sort of excitement built up. There would at least be hope for all those teams hovering 5-10 games above .500 in divisions with the monster spenders.

Nothing reported as of yet that I could find.. speculation is the Jays will callup 3 players today and 4 more when the AAA season ends.

I would guess below three will be recalled today

Inglett / Accardo and another SP gets recalled today (Burrlington maybe)....
