I think it's just a parcel of land (half a square mile) that is contiguous with the rest, that the nation is being given the option to buy at market value.
I don't think there's anything special about that land, it's probably just part of the existing lease that will be ended, and the province would other wise have to re-lease it.

That's about it. The last deal also included a half section that was privately owned that the Nation could also purchase. Apparently the owner was not willing to sell, so the Province allowed the same to occur this time around, but with Crown Land that was available.

I was kidding anyway. That is really not much of a golf course at this point.

Anyone know what the last deal was for.
Looks like this deal is for approx. $356MM,

Anyone else get angry when they read what it took?
I still want a toll on all the access points to the ringstraße from the reserve. Is there a clause preventing that in the future?

I'm assuming he mistakenly started reading page 1 thinking it was current. It happens. No need to be a jerk about it!

Not really because it's their land and is extremely valuable to them, and more importantly, the alternative would have cost billions more. Literally billions.
There's a reason the general sentiment today is "win-win".

I imagine they'll need to upgrade Bow Tr between Sarcee and downtown. More people from the south will use it as their route to downtown I'd imagine.

Yes that land that contains a crappy golf course and a dirt road is just critical to their culture. Selling the land for market value is fair. Giving them double the land as well is complete crap. I understand thats what it takes to get a deal done but I hope the city remembers how great of a friendly neighbour they were if the tables ever turn. Especially when you consider how much of our infrastructure they use tax free

Look at it another way polak. This deal was the same as 2009, but with inflation it comes out less for the Tsuu Tina. The biggest things that have changed since 2009 was that the "uncertain" clauses were taken out, and they want to work with us to make the casino area thrive.
And it doesn't matter how barren the land appears to be for us. They are the ones with family members burried in the path of the road; who's remains will need to be moved.
Like Acey said, this deal saves us billions of dollars. They could have held out for a lot more, but came back to the table and asked us to take out the clauses that would allow us to back out.
We got a pretty good deal, and this should help give the TTN a means to support themselves through economic development. It's win-win.

Facepalm?
Like I said, I get that this is what it takes to get the deal done and were saving money on the alternative but this taking huge advantage of your neighbors. Imagine if allied countries operated like this.
If they are willing to build a golf course and a dirt road over their ancestors remains then frankly, I don't give a flying....

That already happened with the LRT when the road expanded from four lanes to six. Other than an interchange at Sarcee and Bow, I can't see much else being done in the next 15-20 years at least.

If thats market value then we really shouldn't have complained when convenience stores were selling bottles of water for whatever during the flood.
You know. Market value.
Were neighbors in need. 275 million is easily fair market value for that land without giving, for free, double the land back.
