But it’s best to just come to terms with the fact that at least half of current and former NHLers are populist conservatives politically. lol I like noodles, he's funny but he's just another dumb hockey guy. Early in the show today they were briefly discussing the OHL-NCAA and how the big caveat is that guys actually have to go to class. That led to talk how guys they know didn't go and there's options for atheltes to get their degrees other ways. Mclennan suddenly goes full boomer saying "Nowadays they're all protesting and no one goes to class!" and "if you go to school... go to class!!!" turning on his previous point immediately to take on a basic hack political point.

I can't take people seriously after they praise Danielle Smith.
Shows they haven't looked the tiniest bit into her and just love the rah rah alberta sound bytes. They also hold her to a completely different standard than left wing politicians, cause if all things were equal they'd be coming after her.
Essentially it says they don't really care about the well being of the province at the ground level because she's sucking essential public services dry and serving a very specific group/industry of people. Basically a microcosm of Trumpism.
You try not to generalize, but the dumb ex-player stereotype often holds true. That's why it's so important that they stay within a very small range of inconsequential topics (hockey & sports, maybe pop culture).

Yeah, I know hockey is one of the most conservative sports, which is part of my complicated feelings about the whole deal.
But yeah, publicly praising Smith when she's talking about Alberta 'nationalism' is certainly a Choice.
I don’t know that it’s anything to do with hockey. They’re 20-55 year old men - the UCP took a majority of that demographic in Alberta, and Trump did the same in the U.S.

Just to reel it in a bit, keep it classy, and discuss the history of the team. He still seems to be quite up-to-date and insightful about the modern Flames.
