Wilson always has a bad game every 3 or 4. It's just the way it goes. Sometimes he plays poorly for over 3/4 of the game but still pulls it out. Today he missed a bunch of early chances to open receivers. May not have mattered, but when he's bad, he's bad...and then snaps back next week. Defense looked to miss Thomas, but 6 turnovers and short fields for GB, is hard to pull anything back.

That all said, Seattle has Arizona, Rams, and 49ers. Should be 3/3, 2/3 at worst, and maybe even 2/3 gets them the 2nd bye, where the only place they'd have to go on the road in the playoffs is Dallas, and have no more cold weather. Detroit has GB/MIN/NYG.

Even if Seattle doesn't get the bye, a home playoff game and then possibly on the road DET or Dallas.

I would give anything to see Dallas vs Pittsburgh in the Super Bowl. They would have potential for being a huge offensive game with two of the best QBs, RBs and WRs in the league this season.

Game is always potentially exciting when you have Eli involved.

Thoughts on the week that was...

Harry Douglas is a dirty mother$#@!@!
Nice job Giants (I feel dirty saying that)
Kansas City is clearly the best team in the AFC West
I like fake punts!
Really Seattle?
Cleveland is totally going 0 for 16
Tough break for the Dolphins. Will be interesting to see how they finish without their QB.
Tennessee is a great defensive team and they can run the ball, but they have no passing game.
Say what you will about Pittsburgh, nobody wants to see them in the playoffs
The Vikings....if they could just give their QBs some time...
Detroit in control, but that's a nasty injury for Stafford. That will be something to watch.
Thought Siemian had his best game of the year yesterday.

No doubt they have some holes in the roster which can make them inconsistent and they're not as good on the road. Conversely, Green Bay is the Pittsburgh of the NFC. No one in the NFC is 100% confident that they'll win a playoff game against the Packers.

I saw an NFL meme where in the past 10 seasons the Raiders had actually been worse than the Browns....By getting rid of Hue Jackson it looks like the Raiders made sure that only lasted for 10 years and not 11. I wouldn't want to be Jamie Collins dog.

The plus side is that they have the Jets and Buffalo, neither one really can put up huge offence, and close out against a Patriot team that likely has nothing to play for. They also have an okay backup in Matt Moore. But yeah, they were in a decent position to grab a wild card spot, it gets more difficult for them now.

Mariota has been pretty good throwing the ball, but against a team like Denver who combines good cover guys on the outside with a pass rush I think the Titans were pretty cognizant about protecting him. Once they got that 13 point lead they were really conservative. At this point they do look poised to take over that Division moving forward, although this year they still lose too many tie breakers to the Texans.

Quote:

The difference between being the 5 seed and the 6 seed in the AFC is huge for this reason. No one wants to start the playoffs in Pittsburgh. Anyone without a bye would love to play the Texans before things get serious. They can score with anyone, and their defence has been improving.

Quote:
The Vikings....if they could just give their QBs some time...
Been a rough year for Minnesota in terms of offensive injuries. Little threat of a run game and a banged up line makes things tough on any QB. They had the defence this year, but I think they're coming up short of the playoffs.

They also have about as bad of a remaining schedule as they could for an NFC team. @ Giants, @ Cowboys, and finishing up against a Packer team who will need to win that game. They've been remarkable thus far, but I have them ending up at 9-7 myself. Ziggy Ansah left that game early, I thought I saw that he wasn't returning, but I'm not seeing much news on this today. He's another key guy to watch, very good player.

If the Bronco's don't make the playoffs, it won't be on his shoulders. He's seriously outperformed his contact and should have given the team enough salary flexibility to provide a better offensive line and weaponry for a run game.

Right now Denver is where Green Bay was 3 weeks ago, backed right up against the wall to the point where one more loss will finish them. We'll find out if they can get finished off, or if like Green Bay they make the other teams regret not getting the job done before the playoffs.
