Morgan reaching into a bullet sized hole to rip out 8 feet of intestines, all while the guy just hovers over him taking it. Completely undercut the weight of Carl's death with something so absurd that all you could do is laugh hysterically.
The Walking Dead completely summed up.

A 90-minute episode of Carl dying. Thanks Walking Dead!
They really like dragging things out on this show, don't they. That was worse than when they searched for Sophia for 6 straight episodes in season 2.
The Morgan and Carol scenes were a little ridiculous, but at least they were entertaining.

Watched a few of the previous episodes leading up to the new one, forgot how BAD the gun play had gotten.
.50bmg bouncing off a jeep, no empty cartridges being ejected while firing, questionably good muzzle control on full auto.
And then they have Morgan rip out a guys guts and I'm ready to forgive everything lol

They draw things out so much!
There were at least 3 times through the episode where I thought Carl would croak and we could move on with things, but they managed to run the sitting and sobbing over the entire episode. Just impressive..
Best part was Morgan raging. But these endless no name saviors getting mowed down only to seemingly not affect their numbers whatsoever is getting old.

Would have been a great episode if it was 90 mins.. Too much aimless pacing around. It was hard to not lose interest. If anything they need 45 minute episodes and not 1+ episodes.
Psycho Morgan was awesome though. Would have been cool to see an episode from the saviour's perspective where Morgan is acting like a Jason Vorhees type relentlessly stalking them. They are going to draw out this battle, at least keep it fresh.

Yeah, there was some good, and I wouldnt say some 'bad' but they destroyed all of the positive elements with the tepid pacing and jumping back and forth all the time.
I would say though that the scene at the end with the man (not spoiling it) planting vegetables definitely caught me off guard...

Yeah, nah, once we saw the fella with the Apples, I wasn't surprised at all.
Remember this is his vision of what comes next.
Also, boooooooooooooooo this show.
I started watching Season 1 Episode 1, but man it is getting tuff.

We don't have to worry about spoilers regarding TV episodes that have already aired.
Keep in mind that those flash forwards were just Carl's imagination and/or dreaming. Doesn't mean any of those people have to survive- it's just that Carl saw everybody living together peacefully.

Yeah the tone of the episode was way too inconsistent. I know Carl's death is huge in this universe, but it still didn't need to be a 90 min episode. I know they like to run multiple story arcs in a single episode, and sometimes it works, but in this case it really didn't work in the episode's favour. They could have at least maybe run the Morgan/Carol arc in the first half, and move onto Carl in the 2nd half to level the episode out.
Anyway next on the chopping block has to be Michonne. I assume Danai will be much too busy with the Marvel universe to keep doing TWD.

I dont know if this is a spoiler or not, as I have zero knowledge of the source material or anything, but apparently the actress who plays Maggie was involved in a contract dispute and is rumoured to have signed on to a different show.
So, that likely does not bode well for Maggie.

As much as I disliked that episode, I was not surprised they would dwell on Carls death for the whole thing. That seems to be the trend with this show.
This is the first time I have actually forgotten that the show was coming back on. I was flipping through a newspaper and saw there was a story on the Carl death.
I am ready for them to wrap this thing up, its been dragging for a couple seasons now and the flashbacks/forwards are completely out of control. These episodes are painful to sit through.

I got caught up on this and Fear the Walking Dead and I have to say, I prefer Fear. Maybe because the show is younger and they haven't started spinning their wheels with similar storylines.

I haven't watched the show since sometime last season. It's dissapointing that it hasn't found it's feet again. I'd actually like to start it over again soon, seasons 1-5 were so great. I even loved the farm because I wasn't watching from week to week, but like three episodes a night. There was such great character development in those early seasons and I still think that the pilot for TWD is the best pilot I've ever seen. I absolutely loved the show when the Walkers were the main threat.
For me, almost as soon as they got to Alexandira TWD just seemed to plateau and steadily get...meh.

I thought the first season was pretty bad. Does it get better?

I think so. The characters seem more well-rounded than in the first season. The production value is higher than Walking Dead and the location is more interesting. It's taking place along the US/Mexico border so there's some interesting dynamics there.

Wow its a bit shocking to read that answer. I stuck with that show for the first couple seasons or so and I would say it was completely the opposite of your description. lol!
The only thing I would maybe agree with is the US/Mexico border thing, beyond that there is nothing redeeming to FTWD at all. They butchered that thing.
Funny how perceptions can differ so much.

I'm usually pretty easy to please. I haven't hated Walking Dead like other people have. Though I agree it's a chore to watch this season.
It could also be how I watched the last couple seasons of Fear. I binged on it. I find shows don't seem as slow when you're watching them back-to-back without the week or more break between episodes.

They need to add some kind of joy or hope back to the show. It's hard to care about anyone when everything is so miserable and it seems like everyone would be better off dead.
I suppose the scenes from the future are trying to accomplish that, but they don't really do much for me.
