Help, save, whatever.

Wow just watched the Texas game. Screw that. Slide was defintely cheap but Odor cheap shotted him. I like even Pillar even more now. He was PISSED.
Hoping and praying these two teams meet in the playoffs.

That would be a good thing. This team is too good to be this bad.

Unless the Jays were putting up a record similar to the Cubs, Gibbons was always going to get fired this season. Shapiro needs some other Indians reject to fill it instead.

Pinder mentioned that Brunt also hinted last year that AA was on his way out when no one else was really talking about it, so its easy to put good stock in what he says.
I don't think managers really do that much in baseball - there is too many individual performances to make the manager's move really matter. So I don't think the team is better or worse if Gibby is replaced, but it might be a shot in the arm for the team.

I think it boils down to this.
Great managers make a difference (in a good way) like Joe Maddon, LaRussa, Torre.
Bad manger make a difference (in a bad way).
Mediocre managers do nothing.

Is it though, or did they fool us for the last 3 months of the 2015 season? This team is playing exactly like it has for the past 4 years except for a small 3 month blip on the radar. Essentially everything they added for those 3 months is gone, and they are right back to where they were before. Unable to manufacture runs without the homerun and a putrid bullpen. Starting pitching has been great to start, but I don't think we can expect that to last the entire year.
Removing Gibbons will make me extremely happy (should have happened ahead of the 2015 season), but I really don't think that's going to change anything. The way this team is built is fundamentally flawed. We all got caught up in the hype last year when they were blasting 3-4 homeruns a game, but that can't last forever.

The sooner the better, imo. He's made some interesting decisions already this season and the team seems to be stuck in a rut.

That's probably a good way to sum it up. I'd say there is a handful of good managers, or maybe less. The rest are all mediocre. There are no bad managers at the MLB level.
I guess I'm saying that unless you have a top tier manager, it doesn't really matter who you have.

Yup. Other teams have caught on. Pitchers are throwing the Jays junk and they can't hit home runs. Tulo and Martin can't read the fastball right now so they keep striking out looking. Once they catch up to the fastball, they'll get junk too.

So suspensions coming down today and a possible firing in the near future. Could be a pretty interesting day in Jays land.

The swagger David Price brought seems like it was truly the missing piece to the team. Makes you wonder if Rogers will kick themselves for not spending the money to bring him back if the team goes on another non-playoff run in the next few years.

Nope. As long as that bottom line isn't in the red, they don't particularly care how the team performs. The disadvantage of corporate ownership.

Eight actually seems a bit low. What I was reading most were saying 10-12, given he threw the first punch and it landed solidly (apparently the MLB has a history of suspending based on if the punch actually hits or not).
I'm not so caught up in what Odor gets, but what (if any) Jays' players get. I still believe it was 100% Rangers escalating everything and the Jays were just reacting, but we'll see when the decision comes out.

I don't think they fooled us, but that can be the power of adding a guy like Tulo (even though he's a hot mess at the plate this year) and a bona-fide ace in Price. It gets the rest of the team extra jacked up. Some people will argue that these guys are pro's and it shouldn't take stuff like that to get that extra motivation, but its human nature sometimes.
That being said I was the most disappointed in what they did with the starting pitching coming into this year, but that seems to be the only saving grace for this team right now.

I think the Jays still have life in them.
Martin, Tulo, Bautista, Encarnacion and Donaldson are good players and will all start to hit the ball better collectively.
Drew Storen on the other hand is just not good, he has lost a lot on his fastball and is giving up hard contact every time he pitches.
