The dog is the one jizzing, after all, he's sitting on Sven Freakin' Baertschi's lap.
Hence the look on Sven's face... "get off me dog, you jizzed all over me".

I like it.
Three lines that seem like they can score.

Baertschi's been compared heavily to Claude Giroux. His play style, his size, his speed, his stick skills, hands, and even junior level stats and accomplishments.
If he becomes what Giroux is now, I'll be ecstatic.

Powerplay Quarterback
|
I'm still pondering what number he will be wearing. I have a blank retro that I want to get stitched with his name and number..debating if I should just go ahead with #47.
All in all though as with every season I'm excited for the opening day and the first game played.

If he doesn't play himself off the team, who does he supplant for PP time?
PP1; AT, MC, JI/DW, MG PP2: CG, Snickers, JH, JB, TJB...Sb????
If he makes JH redundant or Tanguay redundant how are they moved for positive value considering their contracts? Snickers is a less risky contract to outplay, but we need his Centre Ice potential. Sven could make it a sticky situation.
Is it a bad thing to want Sven to exceed or meet all expectations, despite their enormous heights?
Backlund and him are going to be hard pressed to earn PP time.

What is this nonsense. Is it really too hard to type out player names?
PP: Tanguay- Cammalleri-Iginla
Wideman - Giordano
PP2: Glencross - Cervenka - Hudler
Bouwmeester- Brodie
I wouldnt be surprised to see them more rolls the lines on the pp this year with whomever is playing the best or the last 20 seconds or so, play Baertschi-Backlund-Stempniak. I guess we will see.
I might have missed it in this thread but did anyone notice Baertschi is spelt wrong in the thread title?

No kidding, especially with making your own stupid nickname for a player and expecting people to understand.

Not really wrong, he was going by Bärtschi at the time and there has been multiple spellings of his name everywhere. Not sure the naming conventions with regards to accents and the like in the NHL but last years jersey was Baertschi so I guess that's what he chose.

For each giroux you have 10 other guys that didn't develop from top propsect into NHL star.

Yeah, I'll stick with what he went with: https://twitter.com/#!/SvenBaertschi
And he seems to pronounce his own name Bear-chi, not Bart-shee as I've heard it pronounced as well.
Hopefully he keeps rockin' the #47.

Actually, if you look at players who produce like Sven does in juniors, nearly all of them develop into NHL stars.
A list of the all the recent players who have produced in the CHL at a level similar to Baertschi: ( http://flamesnation.ca/2012/2/13/sve...hi-comparables)
Name Drafted PPG
Rob Schremp 25th 2.54
Wojtek Wolski 21st 2.29
Dave Bolland 32nd 2.2
Corey Perry 28th 2.17
Steve Downie 29th 2.04
Brayden Schenn 5th 1.96
Sven Baertschi 13th 1.94
Claude Giroux 22nd 1.93
Bryan Little 12th 1.88
Jordan Eberle 22nd 1.86
So, in fact, you have it completely backwards; for every 10 guys like Baertschi, only one of them DOESN'T make it in the NHL.

the official spelling is Bärtschi, and that's what Sven had in Portland and for the national team. Here in Europe, we have special letters ä, ö and ü ... ä sounds quite similar to "ea" in English (like in "bear"). The NHL does not have the option of having ä, ö and ü on the jerseys, so players with one of these letters in their names basically have two options:
a) go for "ae" instead of ä, "oe" instead of ö and "ue" instead of ü, these variations are equally acceptable.
b) just drop the points. Austrian NHLers Pöck and Nödl have done so and now have Pock and Nodl on the back.
Sven chose the first option, which to me makes a lot more sense because the pronunciation is still the same. Although I will say that f.e. for Olli Määttä it's probably better to just drop the points, otherwise it would be Maeaettae
I hope that clarifies that a bit
