It's a bit tough to figure it out, but once you get it, you get it.
Basically, you build economy by creating creeps and mining with your SCVs. You build creeps from your command center, and units from the ground. Use the money to either upgrade your massive gun tower that you have to protect and/or build units.
A lot of times you'll see someone go "full econ", which means they're just just hoarding money to build more SCVs and upgrade the tower and send bigger creep to the enemy, while early on the ground guys take care of defending as much as they can before the enemy creeps make it to the tower.
Edit: Sorry Blaster. Couldn't really get on today. I'll be on tomorrow so we can finish our placement matches! That is of course unless someone wants to join in. We're both on around 11ish usually.

Tried playing this.
Also noticed that players were specializing basd on where they were.
My role was just to build towers. Others were going for economy/creeps.
So after reading this thread, I see that some of the players here are pretty good. I'm...not. I'm casual at best, and play nicely in my bronze league, but that's about it. So I figure I'll ask for a bit of advice...what's a zerg player to do against the Mass Marine and Tank 'strat' of the Terran?
Right now, I just roll in the banelings (so, so many banelings...) and hope to take out enough of the troops that my mutas can mop up without getting too pulverized by the marines. This can't be the 'best' way to handle this. Any thoughts on a better way?

I'm no good at playing zerg, but am a pretty good terran player. For me, the toughest thing with zerg in a situation like that is if you have banelings/zerglings/mutalisks. The key I suppose is to get a good build order going so that you can have a good number of these if you need them, but all in all, that's a good strategy to go for I'd say. Maybe if you have too many banelings, substitute some of them for zerglings. And upgrade speed.

I play Zerg mainly so I'll try to explain. Ling/bane/muta works fairly well, though a little tricky to control perfectly. I am far from perfect, but I usually have ling/bane on one hotkey and move in and try to surround the marines before I A-move the whole group. Try to make sure the banes don't hit tanks, if you have to A-move the lings (and mutas) and control the banes towards marines. The mutas, on a seperate hotkey, I tried to pick off tanks (before the ling/bane engagement if possible) to keep the tank count low, and just a-move them before I use the ling/bane. It's kind of hard to explain, easier to show...if you're on one day I could try to show (maybe against Mr. Fish!). He's right on the build order being important, as well as upgrades...ling and bane speed, +1 melee/armour and air attack are important!
Also, it's good to have an extra hatch after you expand to have a mass of lings, the more lings the better!
