First few builds of Greenpois0n have failed miserably, but they are pumping em out. Already on 3. Limera1n is on Release candidate now haha.

Pwnagetool will come out Sunday, which is my favorite tool, which is worth waiting for IMO.

Reboot a few times. Which jailbreak did you use? Both are very rough right now.

There should be a loader, open it and install Cydia.

Okay. I just upgraded to 4.1 as a co-worker told me that limerain and greenpoison would jailbreak it for me. Unfortunately, both apps say that they "do not run on this architecture". I assume they mean they only run on Intel-based Macs?

I'm still on a G5, so I'm assuming I'm stuck with the non-jailbroken phone for now?

Or find a Windows PC to jailbreak it on. Or install Windows in a virtualbox virtual machine.

Yes. Or use a windows pc for a few minutes as previously mentioned. Greenpois0n dev's have stated they will make it PPC compatible if they find a dev who doesn't have an intel :P

Pwnagetool is coming out soon, and that MIGHT be PPC compatible.

A quick way to check which model (3G or 3GS) is to look at the writing on the back of the phone. The 3G writing is grey where as the 3GS writing is silver which matches the apple logo.

To check the firmware go to settings, general, about: and you should be able to see the version of software, model and all that info. I would pop out my sim card and check but my iphone is jailbroken and I am scared something would go wrong haha. I would think that you could check that without a sim but I am not sure.

Now that Facetime has a mac client, nothing better then My3g/3gunrestritor to have facetime over 3g =)

Fffffffff. So I bought an Iphone from a girl at work and it was locked to rogers. I checked the IMEI on the Bell website and it said it should work on the Bell Network. Anyway I jailbroke/unlocked but the phone was upgraded to 4.1 and the baseband version does not allow me to downgrade

what are my options? I talked to rogers and a rep suggested there are 3rd party companies who will unlock the phone and even suggested apple would unlock the phone.

If the baseband is upgraded you are screwed until 4.2, where it is likely another unlock will be made. Apple will not unlock it and it is not possible for any 3rd party company to do so. There are ways to upgrade to 4.1 without baseband update but once it is done it is non reversible.

edit: i should note 4.2 is coming out in November, no specified date though.

I don't understand these 3rd party unlockers. Are they just using the same unlocking programs that everyone is using (which are free) but charging for them?

Yes. Some of them even send you the actual free program to do it lol.

Don't bother, it's a buggy mess. The only thing that it consistently does well is allow Flash ads in Safari.

Does anyone know how to get the keyboard themes from cydia to work? I have an iphone 3GS iOS 4.1 and the themes don't work. I had previously jailbroken my iphone when it was on iOS 3.1.3 and they didn't work then either.

So I just swaped from a blackberry to an Iphone last night. I'm getting a screen "Could not activate cellular data network" I looked around online quick but couldn't find a definitive answer. Can I keep my blackberry unlimited plan and use it on my iphone somehow?

Unlimited data bb or unlimited "browsing". If it's a bb data plan it will work, despite your carrier saying otherwise. Browsing plan won't work.

Go general, about and it should have a carrier version (ie Rogers 8.0). What does it say? If it prompts for an update hit yes
