What are Smokeys thought on Widmore coming to the Island?

We already new that Ben was on the Island already. Syed shot him before the bomb went off and Jack and Kate took him to the others to be revived.

Correct, what's interesting is that in parallel Ben was on the island still and obviously had not been shot because Sayid was never there so he stayed a good person. Now we are seeing that even though Ben was shot and became a manipulator, traitor, killer, etc he is still on cusp of still being a good person. Even Richard said himself that he could save him when he was shot but he would never be the same and the goodness would be taken out of him. So is Ben special then? Does the death of Alex keep him from becoming a part of Locke's faction?
I thought the episode was great and makes me wonder if the true candidate to replace Jacob is actually Ben.

I wonder if Ben's dad was referring to the island or just any old island. If the island did not exist, it still makes sense that the Dharma initiative would exist. They might have been just scientists/sociologists and ended up on some random island in the pacific without weird properties. This also explains why Ben and his father were able to leave the island easily.

The island does exist in the parallel world though, it's underwater in the parallel present time. We don't really know if it's always been that way though. Maybe the island collapsed from an 'incident'. And maybe Ben's dad had finished his shift on the island and returned to the mainland. Lots of possibilities.

I think that we'll get some massive answers when they do a Richard centric episode, I'm also hoping that they do a Jacob episode and a Man in Black Episode.
But man this suddenly looks like a retelling of the Stand doesn't it with sides based around Good and Evil gathering around their chosen profits.

I've heard about comparisons with The Stand before. What was the King book the Others were reading in the book club (Season 2 or 3?). Was it The Stand?

it was a rare edition of Carrie, and it was the first ep of season 3.
The writers have repeatedly acknowledged King as an influence, and especially The Stand.

Edit: Beaten by two minutes.
Carrie.
The producers have always said that they have been heavily influenced by The Stand. It's my favourite book.

She is very pretty. Felt that this was necessary as we don't get to see new hot Olympian's anymore
Ugh, I really can't wait until Lost is over so I can figure out what's going on.

It's a shame her hair looks like a bird's nest in that picture.

You don't find hair contributes to a woman's attractiveness when it's a head shot that's posted?

Also note that the writers have said that it is not really an island (otherwise how would it sink?), and that it is really a four letter word with one vowel, and that vowel is not A or E. I've heard "cork" and "ship" bandied about.

You ask head shot pictures for things? This is getting creepy now.

Really? Where'd they say that? I suppose cork could make sense if it's a worm-hole ... sort of.

Is that Jeff Goldblum? I'd say good for her, because that certainly can't hurt her career any. Once she hits 23 he'll just go to the next one.
