The mods becoming more lenient in regards to Vancouver fans, I can take, but a Vancouver mod on CP would be an affront to all that is right in the world. It would be just wrong. Totally, and utterly, wrong.

I hate the Canucks probably more than I hate cancer. But if the poster is worthy of being a mod I still don't see the issue.

To be president of the United States, you have to be born an American. To be a mod on CalgaryPuck, you must be a Calgary fan!

This is not an indictment of the mod team by any means. I'd just like to highlight that tonight is a prime example of the point I was trying to make when I created this thread. For the past few weeks we've been inundated with all these "hardcore" Canucks fans, who've migrated here to gloat in front of Flames fans, yet as soon as they struggle these same fans are nowhere to be found.
This isn't new. You can check quite a few of these posters profiles and find large gaps in their posting frequency that "coincidentally" seem to appear between the lean and green times for the team.
Obviously there are some notable exceptions, but I think it's understandable why most of us Flames fans get our backs up and attack the posters who are only here when the times are good. Then the Vancouver fans turn around and play the victim card. At least the majority of the Oiler fans here stick around even when things are grim.
I don't really have a solution for this, just generally bitching, but I do think some leniency needs to be afforded to the Flames fans on here who lash out at these type of posters.
Again, this isn't really an issue I have with the moderation team. Just trying to put my 2 cents forward.

Good post there, but it does beg the question- what could we (the mod team) possibly do about that?
The biggest thing is to make sure that nobody responds to trolling posts. And CP has to be one of the easiest places to do that- it's on the Internet and we have tools to ignore people for you; as opposed to being at the game or having to listen to your Canuck fan buddy beak off.
It's a vicious circle. Canuck fans troll because they know Flames fans will react. Flames fans react; which is incentive for other Canuck fans to troll.

For the problem to get better, Flames fans need to let some stuff go.

I'm not sure. You could look at banning some of the Canuck posters who are only here after wins. Some of them are pretty easy to spot. I understand what they're doing is not blatantly inflammatory or against forum rules, but to me they're not contributing positively on a regular basis and are only here for one reason.
I guess that probably creates more of a headache for the mods in trying to track down who's who of these posters, and I don't really have an answer for that. I honestly think, if these guys were culled, this place would be a little more receptive to guys like Blaster and Mayer.
EDIT: Look how many of them are back on here tonight after taking the last 3 games off.

Last night was a classic example of them showing up when things are going good. There are about a half dozen that are good posters win or lose.
I recommend to Rubecube to just get the good ol' ignore feature out. It works for me and I just keep the good ones.

So why go into the Canuck/Hawks thread if you know you're going to have issues? Hell there's hardly any hockey talk in there most of the time as it's Flames fans talking about how crappy and whiney and divey the Canucks are.
if there was a bit more objective, reasonable hockey talk going on in the Canucks threads, alot of the issues would go away themselves

Except Flames fans don't only attack them. This place had me smiling when the Flames missed the play-offs for the first time ever because of the BS I had to wade through posting here this year.
I've seen Mayer get flamed, Mr. Mustard get flamed, and a couple of the new guys who have been pretty steady posters and I wouldn't say those guys are only here after wins.
Fact is, Canucks fans come here to troll because they hear about Canucks fans getting trolled and **** on here. Not because they think people will react, but because they think this place just goes above and beyond the rivalry to be jack asses.
I don't think that is true of everyone, and I don't think that I would say that is indicative of the entire time I've posted here, but this year? Yeah, it's pretty accurate.
Also in before "just leave if you don't like it!" because I shouldn't have to leave and before this season it was never a problem.

So basically you're admitting that these fans come here specifically to troll. This has to be the lamest thing I've ever read. I'm guessing Canucks Central only ever posts nice things about the Flames? Should we all flood CC in case one of our BFFs has something said about them, on the internet, that isn't nice?
I don't get what the your purpose is here if you're going to get hurt feelings everytime someone posts a 7uongo. Do you and the other Canuckleheads come here expecting to see your team praised? Do you think we all really want to be Canucks fans, but just need someone to show us the way?
WE HATE THE CANUCKS. We're not going to look favourably on anything they do, and we're probably going to disagree with you on anything favourable you have to say about them. I can see you having an issue if you're being attacked personally. However, if you're going to get pissy and call for backup because we crap on your favourite players, then you probably should leave.
EDIT: You also say you haven't had a problem until this year. I'd say the influx of new 'Nucks posters who seem to only show up to gloat has been greater this year than in previous years. You could be seeing some backlash due to that.

It's not a matter of posting "nice things about opposing teams," it's about the fact that sometimes this place just keep beating a horse long past its expiry date, painting all Canucks fans with a wide brush and attacking the actual posters as opposed to the team. Do I think it's great that they come here to troll? No, hence I call them out, but I am explaining why they're doing it and for most, it's not cause they want to gloat.

Except if that sort of stuff hurt my feelings, I'd have left a long time ago. I get annoyed when I see posts saying all Canucks fans are idiots, or that someone hopes all Canucks fans or players would just die, or someone laughing at a player's ruptured testicle.

And hate away, Champ. Like I said, there is a rivalry but some people go above and beyond what is acceptable. And this season there has been a lot more of those people than in previous years. I have never "called for back-up," and I rarely, if ever go to another forum with a beef with a current one (an exception being recently where I was directly asked). I don't want trolls coming around any forum I post, they bring down the quality of the forum and that is not something I want.

They didn't start showing up until December/January when the Canucks went on a roll. I've felt like this place has been going above and beyond to piss me off since last June.
